Flying to PDX
Im taking Alaska Airlines to PDX from Sac. Anybody got tip and trick about my bike being on the plane. And wether or not i needa bike box.
Im going to call the Airline so dont be a jackass and say call them.

That flight is a Dash 8, which is rather short on the luggage space. You'll have to call them to see if they'll charge you an arm and a leg for a bike.
You'll want it to be in a bike box if you want to see your bike end up at PDX in one piece.

Dash 8's arent short on luggage space... they have a poorly designed fire suppression system which is why there is a load line in the cargo hold. ie... a line that you can't load past because it would interfere with fire suppression.
The moral of the story here is, the airline should have no problems letting you pack up that bike and send it along, just like in the "Flying United" thread. If they run out of space on your flight, they'll simply toss it onto another flight heading the same direction. Happens more often than you'd expect.
