40 bucks for Nitto b123

I could get nitto b123 38mm bars with champ grips on them for 40, I like those bars and was wondering if this is a good deal, any ideas?

rduenas 11-13-07 12:35 PM

It's a good deal. Considering champ grips themselves are like $20.

bonechilling 11-13-07 12:49 PM

You definitely need these if you have a Schwinn Varsity conversion.

hahaha

i'd spend more money on the 123aa's because steel bars are heavy which is only good if you like that feel.

i think that with handlebars more than anything else you should actually be able to hold the bars in your hands before you spend more than ten bucks on them.

804RVA 11-13-07 01:01 PM

that would have been such a witty comeback if I did in fact have a varsity conversion, but I do not so as my mom used to say "if you don't have anything nice to say, shut the **** up."

cc700 11-13-07 01:03 PM

your mom has a dirty mouth.

I wasn't actually making fun of you, I was just making a stupid joke.

804RVA 11-13-07 01:08 PM

I have a leader that I am very happy with, I used t ride a Diamondback conversion though.

Bonechilling I overreacted that I will admit so my bad, hopefully there are no hard feelings.

cc700 11-13-07 01:13 PM

is yours the one with the black and red tt protector?

irregardless(ha what a stupid word), that was a funny thing to say even if you don't have a varsity.

804RVA 11-13-07 01:16 PM

the tt protector is black and orange, but yea I am pretty sure you are thinking of the right one. (It's not the prettiest bike but I like it none the less.)

jdms mvp 11-13-07 01:18 PM

Lots of people ride with steel Nittos on their carbon or aluminum track frames. Nothing wrong with that.

gargiulo.mike 11-13-07 02:29 PM

good looking rig

That's cheap. They're not the most comfortable bars out there, though.

actually, an aluminum frame would be one of the biggest reasons for me to go back to steel bars. I'd be a lot less concerned with overall weight and steel bars aren't going to flex on you when you're really mashing like aluminum ones will.

i've got alu bars on an alu stem at the moment, and its just flexy enough that i tend to hold back a little in a full blown sprint.

but i mean, this is all assuming that carbon drops aren't magically granted to me for cheap monies.

Aeroplane 11-13-07 02:50 PM

AL frame = stiff
steel bars = stiff

JohnnyDoyle 11-13-07 04:48 PM

It's a good deal. I paid $50 for my 123s (either 34 or 36 mm, can't remember which one I decided on), without grips.
