Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

That scares the crap out of me. I ran a CF seatpost on my cross country bike for a bit, but I ended up ditching it after I became too afraid of something like this.

Thats hella sweet!

What all happened? Did you hit something? Something hit you? just "randomly" fail?

Bikes: Univega Gran Premio, Custom MTB/SS/Commuter, Vintage Miele Fixie under construction

prolly tightened it too much, and caused some small stress fractures. these prolly ended up getting bigger over time. I just installed a carbon seat post, and heard a tiny crack after tightening it. havent rode the bike yet but im not in my seat much.

That happened to a guy in an alleycat last year. He was angry. Not sure what he ended up doing.

This is really funny ^^

No, it didn't happen to me. Someone over in the cross forums on the other board. Cross interest is really growing in some parts of the country where races are available. Northern Illinois/Wisco and other midwest especially. Whatever, right. They're alleycats on mud and some maniacs do them fixed.

You get a lot of newbie experiences stories that are horrifying/interesting on the boards. I'm sure our tender, pitboss, has some stories.
