prolly tightened it too much, and caused some small stress fractures. these prolly ended up getting bigger over time. I just installed a carbon seat post, and heard a tiny crack after tightening it. havent rode the bike yet but im not in my seat much.

No, it didn't happen to me. Someone over in the cross forums on the other board. Cross interest is really growing in some parts of the country where races are available. Northern Illinois/Wisco and other midwest especially. Whatever, right. They're alleycats on mud and some maniacs do them fixed.
You get a lot of newbie experiences stories that are horrifying/interesting on the boards. I'm sure our tender, pitboss, has some stories.
