Fuji TRACK 2008 Regional Differences

A couple months ago, I purchased a 2008 Fuji TRACK here in Japan. Today, I was working my way through my daily FGG viewing when I noticed this guy also had purchased a 2008 Fuji TRACK. But his looked different. And had different components (seat, fork, hubs, chain).

And different geometry.

So I checked out the respective Fuji US site and the Japanese Fuij site and, sure enough, they are different.

Is it usual for a company to make two different versions of the same bike for different regions? I mean, I can maybe understand components, but geometry? I'm glad I ended up getting the more relaxed frame but I would have preferred the option to go threadless like the US model. Has anybody seen this before and do you think if I pitched a fit they would send me a threadless fork? (i kid.)

Bikes: allez fuji tracku nishiki TT GT KHS arrow Miner 29'er CIOCC Corsair and now a f*cking awesome waterford skeet velo

that's odd. mebbe fuji is never really used for track because of all the other ill-ass frames over there.
out of those two pics the US one looks nicer

indeed

mine will be up for sale shortly

and to the OP, it is completely normal for a company to sell a different style of a bike in different regions of the world.

Thanks Ingleside. I didn't realize companies did that. Really I'm just kinda pissed that I missed out on the better components. I got it new for a ridiculously low price though so I'm not too worked up about it.

And about the abundance of nice frames in Japan? You have to be somewhere other than where I am located to get the sexy 3rensho and nishiki frames. (I am located in what might as well be part of Russia.) Nice, cheap NJS frames are not nearly as abundant here as everyone believes they are.

ehh, im in no hurry. i bought it through my shop at a ridiculous price. i haven't seen any around here in san francisco but im sure i'll start seeing them pop up. when i get enough pennies saved up for a cinelli or a tomassini frame i'll dump it.

i cant really tell but your bike looks really similar to the Track 650c or what used to be called the SE. for some reason the 650c bike comes with brakes while the standard 700c comes brakeless. marketers in different regions of the world determine what they think will sell in that particular market. we just got some 2006 fuji team road bikes that were only sold in europe and they come with campy shifters and mechs. i wish more companies would sell bikes with campy here but we have to wait for companies like fuji to ship the "world" models over here to get the special stuff sometimes.

the track pro could turn out good if you scrapped the components and painted it....the obey is just very half assed, although it has a few good components, and is lugged...

i don't think the components are that bad— i love the deda bars but dislike the seatpost, and the wheelset is cheap but competitive at that price point. the saddle is good for me, but the cheap stamped cog and lockring were immediately trashed. i don't care for the fork but i suppose it's functional.

the colourway is admittedly hideous and i plan to rectify that on mine once i find a gun and booth to borrow.

if you don't mine me asking how much? I got mine for just short of 700.00 and I don't work there but a series of events caused this bike to fall into my hands, kinda right place at the right time. And have friends who do work there, though they didn't purchase the bike for me.
