Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

my name is flash. I been on the street in nyc since 1992. i work at a color lab now and make mad loot. I know all those so called messengers you williamsburg hipsters think you know. half those guys deliver food and pretend they are real messengers even tho they sit around smoking weed all day and trying to get "messenger model gigs". I keep it real. I'm on the street every day at least 10 hours a day. I am the fastest guy on the street and a real vet.

you ****in posers can come to my race on 12/15 and learn what real messengers are about. felipe might race (if he's not scared - he races with you toys cuz he knows your all slow). this is going to be a real messenger race. short and fast and dangerous. none of that stupid gehey trackstart bs that you do at your races. jsut riding fast up fifth avenue and down 6 ave all against traffic. real messengers know you got to do what you got to do.

Yea, I guess he'd be pissed if everyone found out that skitching off your wifes broco was the secret to winning alleycats.

Well, I for one believed that this was a legit race at first...I was possibly a little hasty earlier and would like to...reaffirm my allegiance to actual alleycat organizers. May not be perfect, but they're still the best we have. For now.

man this is so perfect...every time i come back to bf after being away for awhile there's some bull**** thread like this that makes me want to start ****ing rollerblading or something. jesus christ, we obviously all like bikes, who gives a **** if prolly's proud of his new white tires? if that makes him an ******* then we need more *******s who have fun on bikes and don't give a **** what the cyberhaters think. prolly does a lot of good **** for biking in nyc...and last time i checked, this was supposed to be a forum about biking. but then again, the last time i checked was a while ago. ****, if you want to troll a forum so bad go play world of warcraft or some ****. nyc forums, i misses you already.

If internet forums had been around 20 years ago, skateboarding forums would have probably been full of the same arguments. Ditto for snowboarding forums 15 years ago. Ditto for surfing forums 40 years ago. Soon most of the haters will be onto the next edgy sports trend, and many of us will be able to sit back, breathe a little easier, and enjoy riding fixed gear bikes that much more. I know I'll still be there, G-d willing.
