Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I'd guess it's a 650c deep section HED or comparable rim, painted white and built to a blingy hub.

It's Garret's bike, and I think it's a Zipp (but could very well be HED).

Oh I'm so happy to finally have a fixed gear. Mainly for the fact that I can dump the derailleur and all that. But I flipped the wheel around, and wow its such fun to ride fixed gear. Its so nice and smooth, and you have all those new sensations in your legs when the pedals push forward on your legs. I didn't crash mainly because I read so many incidents of it on these forums, that I sort of guessed what to expect.

Although that hasn't always been the case, i remember when I first rode clipless, I fell on my first light just like I had read about many times.

Anyway so I'm really enjoying it. Its a bit shiny now. This isn't actually a good thing. It doesn't give it any personality, rather like a factory reproduction. When I start riding it, and get some dirt and chips in that shiny chrome paint, then I'll be happy.

PS - I've attached a kick stand to the bike and clipless pedals, this was just 10 minutes after I bought it.

That's great! You put a kickstand on it but you can't wait to see 'personality' marks ~

I like your new bike. That color would go over well in Chapel Hill.

Geat ride and an impressive first. Pretty much flawless.

But all debates on practically aside, I think we can all agree that bike would be 10* as cool without the reflectors and kickstand. I'd make more suggestions, but then I'd just seem like a bike aesthetics wh ore.

The two NJS frames I've sold have gone to SF, and just about every track component as well.

I posted up a few pages ago. Here's some updated ones. Swapped the bullhorns for a straight bar with imitation AME grips and an MX brake lever. Both oldschool BMX stuff. Also, my favorite mod was to flip the bottom bracket and the pedals from right to left and vice versa and then flip the track hub so I'm running my chain on the left side. It was a little gnarly the first time cuz I spun the rear cog loose about 1/4 turn even with the lock ring. Today I used red Loctite on both the cog and ring and am currently letting it dry. The red stuff is pretty much permanent so I should be good. Since I was a kid I always wondered why the gears were always on the right side. Anyone have an answer?

Hope you like
NAES

Well, it just sprinkled in Seattle. So I thought it was the perfect time to take picture of the newest addition to my garage.

Gyeswho, I have the same brake levers, and I hope you realize in that picture that the quick-releases are open. I've seen people riding around like that who don't know any better, and the reach to the brakes gets pretty long.

I ride with brake QR open too, and adjust with them open. I don't bother with them.

Gyeswho, what brake levers are you using on the dale.

yea another just told me so. I have large hands so it wasn't an issue but I'll "correct" it since it'll make things easier

So cogs/freewheels don't have to be reverse threaded.
