So here's my new conversion, my first fixed gear. I'm pretty happy with it so far. The ride is really comfortable and the frame is the perfect size. Sorry that I only have a cell camera. These pics look pretty crappy. The bike is actually in really good shape and looks a lot better in person. I have both front and rear brakes because I really do like riding it as a single speed sometimes.

And no one need mention the cranks/pedals. The pedals have already been swapped with the eggbeaters off my ss mtn bike, so pedal strike is not an issue right now if I'm careful. I'll be ordering shorter cranks and a new chainring with my next paycheck, as well. The BMX stuff that is on the bike now is damn near indestructable, but it weighs a ton. I think I saved half a pound with just the pedal swap.

Frame is from 'velo-city', an old san francisco bike shop. Back in the late nineties/early 2000s they had a batch of frames welded up by a local builder based on joe murray's old kona geometry, and this is one of them.
Nope, even honking up a hill with the 19t cog I couldn't get the rear wheel to slip, which is odd, because the exact same QR on my karate monkey was slippy as all hell.
Gratuitous weld shot :

your saddles look painful. and given that your picture isnt even perfectly horizontal, they look even more painful. other than that, nice bikes. very clean.

Here's a Raleigh Sprite 27 I just finished building up for my mom. She's 61 but still going. Anyway I tried to save as many original parts to keep the cost down. Original brake calipers, handlebars, and stem. Mavic Reflex Rims laced to Formula Hubs. Bullet Proof Cranks. Powder Coating by Custum Fab & Finish in Radford, VA. Turned out real nice.
