Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

mmmm, those pictures just made me happy once again that my San Jose will soon be orange.... that hipster track standing while drinking a beer almost killed it for me.
I cant wait to see my bike again...

Not feeling the conversion but the paint looks pristine. I hate the look of mustache bars but to be fair I've never ridden them.

87' Schwinn Le Tour SS

Just revamped my le tour SS. Nothing crazy, I loved the original look. It just needed a little face lift. Hope you guys enjoy. I added in a little Chicago Shoreline for good measure.

New: powdercoat matched the old red, mavic mxp 22 wheels, CC front caliper, lever, and in-line, shimano bb, fizik saddle.

Kept (all originals from the 87 i believe): Sugino crank, seatpost, stem, handlebars.

i think it's a profile designs. i have a minoura that mounts on the seat rails. with bottles in when you sit upright on the seat you can feel them a little bit

so here's my first single speed build:
frame, forks, and bars were all given to me, i had the seat kicking around from an old roadie, and the rest was was pieced together with the help of a local shop. since making this bike i have gotten hooked and am currently working on converting my old Apollo into a fixie (can be seen in the corner, more pictures soon to come).

Amazingly weak. I just don't get why folks spend so much on conversions when track frames are a-plenty.

perhaps they prefer road geometry over track geometry when riding on the street.
