bris - I love that bike although it would look even better and go faster if it had a brake.

:D

Good job on not getting banned and have a Happy New Year.

C'mon man, a veteran like you should know better than to jump into a potential troll-fest...

bigbris I can see you have a nice bike there but there is something about it I don't like I think its the color it just looks dull. Maybe its just the pictures. Certainly its nicer than my IRO

nah the bike is great and you're the ideal owner for it. No matter how long you own it the parts will never show any signs of wear or use, it's a regular museum piece and you'll be there to make sure it's always clean and ready for photos :thumb:

Strarted the New Year with a new Kokua Fixie

Still need to upgrade with a Easton riser bar and a longer Thompson seatpost. I'm having trouble getting used to having to use my legs to stop.

It gets much too serious here sometimes so here's hoping that everyone's New Year is filled with light heartedness

I'd use hemp instead of cotton if you're not going to shellac it. But, i'd still recommend shellacing both. The cotton will just absorb a bunch of water and get messy. Remember how your shoe laces pull all weird and get uneven and untied when wet?

I finally got my 88 Pista frameset. I was planning on holding off doing anything to it, until I can afford the Miche components I'm wanting to use, but I was so excited, I threw whatever parts I had already on this to make the bike rideable.

your bike is pretty nice. alot nicer than about 90% here.
i would've left it original paint, also the bar wrap is kinda ugly and your chain is too tight.

[picture too big]

I like a lot of the design elements of this bike. The little integrated bar/stem, the suspension, the miniature Big Apples, a real HS and such, and the little rubber piece I'd guess is there to avoid the pusher kid from turning the bars too far and too fast.

wait a second here. let me get this straight.
you said you're a big boy and can handle criticism of your bike.
so i gave my opinion. then you resort to personal attack (i don't know because i was gone but i imagine that's the case).
then your inappropriate post gets deleted so you complain about my post and get MIN to delete that one too?
is that correct?
if so that's not really the behavior of a big boy...

You can also use Shellac to change the color. This is after one coat, I used three.

The white cotton will get dirty and age at the same rate as the white tape so I'm not overly concerned with how long it lasts. It takes about 5 minutes to do and uses about 2 cents worth of twine.

I would go with whatever color matches the bar tape. Twine is available in a variety of colors. A nice way to finish a bar IMO. I find wrapping a bar quite therapeutic actually.

Beautiful Serotta.

The little rubber piece is removable. Did someone say bar spins? Seriously though this little bike is perfect for that cycling obsessed parent that wants to pass on the obsession to their little ones.

Nice, that is one of the old Reparto Corsa frames, right? I have been looking for one in my size for ages now, it has that "Mega" downtube, yes? Get some more pics up, I haven't seen one in person but the celeste paint is sparkly, is that correct?

queerpunk 01-01-09 01:45 PM

That Serotta is one of the coolest bikes to find its way into this thread. Pretty crush-worthy... and it's my size!

Actually, it was just a quip in reply to you calling my bike ugly, meant to be tongue-in-cheek. And I only complained to MIN about ny's posts still being up after both our posts got deleted, I didn't want either of our posts deleted.

In short, no, that's not correct.

DARTHVADER 01-01-09 02:12 PM

oh i see.
see how much confusion arises from deleted posts...
