C'mon man, a veteran like you should know better than to jump into a potential troll-fest...
Thanks guys. I missed you all. |
bigbris I can see you have a nice bike there but there is something about it I don't like I think its the color it just looks dull. Maybe its just the pictures. Certainly its nicer than my IRO

Strarted the New Year with a new Kokua Fixie
Still need to upgrade with a Easton riser bar and a longer Thompson seatpost. I'm having trouble getting used to having to use my legs to stop.
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC01207.jpg It gets much too serious here sometimes so here's hoping that everyone's New Year is filled with light heartedness  |

My sugestion would be to go to Home Depot and pick up some white cotton twine and then go to Rivbike for some easy directions on how to finish bar tape. Electrical tape is for electricians.

I finally got my 88 Pista frameset. I was planning on holding off doing anything to it, until I can afford the Miche components I'm wanting to use, but I was so excited, I threw whatever parts I had already on this to make the bike rideable. |
Flip it... :thumb: |

http://velospace.org/files/11277.jpg i would've left it original paint, also the bar wrap is kinda ugly and your chain is too tight. |

It was of your opinion of my bike. I don't think I've ever seen your bike (hint hint).
you said you're a big boy and can handle criticism of your bike. so i gave my opinion. then you resort to personal attack (i don't know because i was gone but i imagine that's the case). then your inappropriate post gets deleted so you complain about my post and get MIN to delete that one too? is that correct? if so that's not really the behavior of a big boy... |

I'd use hemp instead of cotton if you're not going to shellac it. But, i'd still recommend shellacing both. The cotton will just absorb a bunch of water and get messy. Remember how your shoe laces pull all weird and get uneven and untied when wet?
http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC01136.jpg The white cotton will get dirty and age at the same rate as the white tape so I'm not overly concerned with how long it lasts. It takes about 5 minutes to do and uses about 2 cents worth of twine. http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...n/DSC01216.jpg I would go with whatever color matches the bar tape. Twine is available in a variety of colors. A nice way to finish a bar IMO. I find wrapping a bar quite therapeutic actually. |
Beautiful Serotta.

I like a lot of the design elements of this bike. The little integrated bar/stem, the suspension, the miniature Big Apples, a real HS and such, and the little rubber piece I'd guess is there to avoid the pusher kid from turning the bars too far and too fast.

That Serotta is one of the coolest bikes to find its way into this thread. Pretty crush-worthy... and it's my size!
