Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? My 1980's Trek 412 (or 414). Shimano 600 crank. Finishing up sanding the frame...getting ready for paint. Right now it has a 700c rear wheel and a 27" front wheel. That will change as soon as I get another 700c tire (bike isn't being ridden right now cuz of all the whitestuff outside!).

What a blast building this thing. I think I'm hooked on fixies - I am already looking for another frame to build up!

I apologize for the poor lighting...I'll retake the picture tomorrow!

Thanks. I'll have to find a long-reach caliper for the 700c wheel. The Shimano 600 brakeset I have with the bike won't work even at full extension.

Suggestions?

if it's close you can use a file to make a bit more space at the bottom.

well, if your love is a product of luggishness and your boyfriend is (love|lug)less then i fear that the circumstances of the relationship might be one of fetish rather than love, no?

My 1988(?) Cannondale Criterium converted to single-speed. It's not much, but I like it anyway. Aluminum frame, steel fork, two brakes because it's hard to ride it slow and I usually have to dodge a lot of students on campus. I want to switch the quill stem out and get something that rides a little lower because the one currently on it is a bit high for me.
