I just posted my ride at fixedgeargallery, and now I'm adding it here. These forums were very helpful to me while I was working on this project, and now I'd love any feedback.

Frame is a Motobecane Mirage painted minty fresh, sovos hub laced to phoenix rim in back, generic 27" wheel in front, suntour stem and cranks (40x16, large chainring is attached to the crank arm so it's along for the ride for the time being), weinmann brake, brooks saddle, sawed off bars with cinelli cork tape.

I love riding this bike so much.

Ok got my new digital camera today, I'm so stoked, now I can take pictures of all my bikes!

'72 Rixe singlespeed cruiser (formerly "English" 3-spd) made in West Germany.

I painted it flat black industrial enamel (w/Binks 2001 gun, NOT a can job!).
Cannondale alu. fork
Kalloy stem and steel riser bar
Brooks B72 saddle
Sun AT18 26 x 1 3/8 rims
Wienmann 750 centerpulls and Dia-comp motorcycle-style levers
Rear hub is a Shimano bmx cassette that takes a 3-spd/coaster brake type cog and lockring
I installed a brass extension on the front fender

If you take the brakes apart and clean them with somthing like citrasolve they will look like new and just watch out for the springs

monday night i hit the streets on my new commuter fixie. strictly low-budget, based on a frame with considerable sentimental value. drive train upgrades are planned but not fully funded at this time. it will also need a coat of paint although i like the idea (from another thread here) of wood-grain contact paper - i would name it the "country squire".

i also posted this in the commuter forum but, to enhance the fixed-gear angle, i'm including a photo of the chainline, which i think turned out purty good for my first attempt at converting a freewheeled hub to fixed.

cicadashell--nice conversion. looks like the chainring could move to the outside a touch. if it's on the inside of the spider, why not try it on the outside?

I've ridden BMX for 5 years and I'm now really getting into fixed gear bikes and I'm converting my road bike soon.. I don't know anything about road bikes so I'll have questions.. I was wondering what these style handlebars are called.. the ones that point forward rather than loop down... if you get what I'm saying.
