yes on the carbon fiber...
nude carbon (no clear coat)
ordered 1/2 track / 1/2 road geometry
no bottle bosses
no decals
titanium dropouts
front brake only
here's a link to their site...

Why no clear coat?
[ignorance] I thought it helped protect the carbon from UV or something...[/ignorance]

on the clear coat vs. nude, Calfee offers both as finishing options. I've seen the nude carbon on road bikes and it has a mat/satin look to it and the webbing on the CF is exposed...with the clear coat, it covers all that up...though on a fade finish, you can see some of the details through the clear. I read somewhere that a spray called 303 aerospace protectant will add UV protection to the frame, but when I'm not on the road, it'll be in the garage, so the exposure will be limited...in addition to the color swatches, take a look at the "tubes & lugs" section...

calfee. whoa. really whoa. I think da game is over, at least until someone bust out a Look 496 with a custom scrimshaw headbadge.
details on the build, if you don't mind.

I'm not really sure about the headtube...that might have been what was necessary to fit my size, but not sure (I'm 5'7").
Moki...on the build, Calfee has also prepped an Alpha Q GS10 to match (no decals, etc)...
initial plans are (but haven't ordered yet):
Thomson stem/seatpost
Sugino 75 Crankset (165mm - black)
SRAM nickel chain
IRD Technoglide headset (black, but wanted red)
Black Phils on Black OPs (from my current set up)
Bars (will swap between Profile design bullhorns and Syntace carbon bars, front brake only w/cross lever vs. hoods)
it actually should look pretty plain when it's done and few will notice around where I live (I think I'm the only person riding a fixed gear in my area)

i've seen headtubes like that for those who want to use a drop stem but dislike spacers. might not be the reason yours is like that though. cheers, nice bike.

I'm actually really curious about this since I would assume calfee wouldn't do something without a reason. Did you ask for low clearance?

i bet calfee did have a good reason, but can't say with confidence what it was.

Dutret...
I honestly don't know...for the most part, here's what I asked for (my road bike is 52cm):
- half road / half track geometry
- track dropouts
- raised bb
- no decals, no bottle bosses or brake hole on the bridge, etc
I also mentioned to the bike shop and Craig that I don't race and this set up will be used for road riding as a fixed gear, so I didn't have any special requirements...if they sold something off the shelf in my size, I would have been happy with that too, but for the Pista, everything has to start from the ground up.

you should ask to satisfy my curiosity(and hopefully your own).
maybe they used the road geo lugs and to steepen the geometry they dropped the lug further down the headtube or something.

1. It doesn't rain often here.
2. I've got a hardware heavy duty chain, wrapped in a DH tube, with a master lock - and I'm careful-ish
3. Hoshi bladed spokes.
4. Rear wheel is 1x and radial![Wink](https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/wink.gif)
5. How many? Thats a very personal question...
