Who knows about vintage campy track hubs ?

I bought wheelset that had campy record high flange hubs on it. He had them in his basement collecting dust. I asked him when he got them he said early 80s, but not sure of exact year. The axle nut had an 11 or thin 77 on it. The hubs have the oil ports and I can't find any info that has them with the oil ports. I have heard of the 11 dating on campy cranks and that would mean 85'. Anyone with infomation would be great. By the way i cleaned them up and they shine and spin like new.

Thanks,
Gregg

Oil ports are def. pre 1984. (abayence, Campagnolo C-Record high flange hubs - "Sherrif Stars" - are from 1990).

They are not sherrif stars. So oldsprinter you are then saying it maybe 77 on the axle nut, because they didn't have oil ports after 84'.

Thanks,
Gregg

You might find this page handy - some dates are listed, and the page is laid out chronologically from oldest to most recent...

I just scored a set of record track high flange hubs with big deep NJS stamps on them. I used to only know of the C REcord NJS version......very happy! Will post pics some time this week...

my friend has a c record hub that's lasted a long long time on the rear of his bike. he destroyed the front one though...had it laced radially, hit a pothole and the hub broke. he crashed. this was a long time ago and only a few weeks after he started riding the hubs. he is still riding the rear hub though.

Hi Gregg,

unfortunately it doesn't say much - just that there were far more high flange hubs made with oil ports than low flange, and that that collector believes this particular model was the best Campagnolo hub ever made - which is nice to know I guess.

I've seen two single C-Records offered for sale on eBay - no idea why, but I guess failure of one is a possibility.

Are you sure they are track hubs and not road hubs threaded for a freewheel? The oil ports are awfully suspicious. Are there one or two sets of threads on the rear hub? There should be one right hand threaded and one left hand threaded set.

C-Record, or "Sheriff Star" hubs were introduced in 1986. Not, 1990.
