So Andre's not really named Andre?

This guy's blog in non-sense. He has absolutely no idea what he's talking about when it comes to frame design and the stresses of track racing and skidding. This is just babble.

Anyway, reading this guy's blog, he seems to be genuinely unstable. I don't think I'd engage him, just because I don't be on his "Hit List" when he snaps.

Bikes: KHS steel SS

He's right on alot of counts.
Don't get me wrong, I love my SS, and it is geared perfectly for my commute, good for snow and rain, but on my geared bikes I am much, much, much, much faster uphill, downhill, and under most conditions on flat ground as well.

Bikes: Full Fendered Bareknuckle, Faggin with 10spd Centaur, 1973 Raleigh 3spd Cruiser.

jeez, why can't you guys just admit that we all ride fragile, slow and dangerous bikes only to look cool in front of our buddies?

I admitted it, and I feel I'm a better person because of it.

It's true that you can crush the top tube with your thumb on most track bike's, that's why so many of us ride with those pads.

I have NEVER had a bike that was remotely that thin-walled. Yeah, if the handlebars swing around hard enough in a crash you'll get a dent, but unless you guys have freakishly strong hands, I don't see many people being able to crush their TT with their thumbs.

That's probably because you only weigh 140 pounds Dave. For guys like me and the blogger who can squat caddys, tt crushing is an all too common occurrence.

138, thank you. Seriously, though, thin-walled tubes seem blown out of proportion. They can be fragile, but if they crushed that easily it would be pointless to build bikes out of them.

It would be hilarious to take him up on that, on the condition that he has to document the results in his blog. You could have a friend videotape it and make Vance link to it through youtube. I will donate money towards buying a cheap tire for this experiment.

I have stripped off 4 hubs........2 my own, the other 2 were being skidded without incident by their original owners. It can happen, and they weren't all junk.

Then White Industries sent me a prototype splined hub/cog and now I think fixies are groovy again. But I ride with 2 brakes so you guys probably wouldn't want to hang with me anyway.......if you could.

Funny you should say that. I wasn't getting a very good vibe off him at that press conference.
