Just saw a cut krypto cable and mini U on the ground by a rack on 6th and 14th. Are those cables even a deterrent?

edit - I meant in NYC, in response to the Union Sq thievery...
I've seen some nice bikes in and around that area.

I've seen some nice bikes in and around that area.
yeah, it's out of control. the cable will only stall a thief like 5 seconds if he really wants your wheel; i'm sure it's really just to defend from the jerkoffs who simply stalk with an adjustable wrench in the pocket.

I would really only use the cable to keep someone from taking a QR front wheel in a crime of opportunity. And even then, not in NY.
