Info on CXP30 rims

I only hear good things about them but what makes them so good? Why did Mavic stop making them? Does anyone know the specs on them and do they have eyelets? Are they worth putting good hubs (DA, phils) on them or should they be used on cheaper hubs?

I also read one thing on how there was a prob with something breaking in the rim making it very difficult to use again?

Mavic replaced them with the CXP33, which is just a clincher version of the same rim.

They have profiled eyelets which are hard to find in the case of one of them breaking.

CXP30's came in clincher and tub. They are also a deeper profile than the CXP33 and not the same rim.

i have one CXP30 built up that i ride on daily and one that's waiting to be built up. it seems nice. not too heavy, looks good, and it rolls.

i'm not exactly sure what eyelets are, but if they're what i think they are, they do have them. what i'm thinking of are the little "cutouts" visible in profile on the rim that the nipples are inserted into. the ones that deep v's don't have.

eyelets are a separate, roughly cylindrical, piece of metal in each spoke hole that the nipple fits into. it distributes the tension more effectively to reduce the chance of cracking.
