given that they take a 107mm bottom bracket, i'm fairly confident that they're JIS. I'd buy a 107mm Shimano UN-54.

Yeah, they fit a Shimano UN54. So whatever that is.

Probably JIS. Just get the $14 Alien BB along with the crankset and save yourself the trouble of worrying about spindle-size and chainline.

Any opinions on these cranks? They seem to get pretty good reviews and I am looking to purchase them as well, good idea? Not meaning to hijack the thread or anything.

JIS crank on ISO instead of JIS spindle would sit further in assuming same length spindle.

If they're the same as the Radiuses(radii?)/Andels (which most people seem to think they are), then they're good bang for your buck. I believe the Aliens retail the cheapest of the three, too.

I have a set, about 3 months riding on them. Look great, good price (comparatively), and feel strong. There is some very minimal crank noise but that could be my poor installation of the BB and cranks.

If u find alien cranks on ebay often they'll have it set for "make an offer" and you can get them for 10 bucks less. I got mine for $69. I'm way happy.

I was mainly asking for a friend, though if I ever need another budget set I will be going that route to keep the same BCD across my bikes...

I think these are the best budget option out there since you can use Shimano BB
