Really makes the bike. What brand of cloth tape did you use?
Gonna go out on a limb and say this is my favorite bike posted here. Ever. It just calls to me. Any more pics. Sorry to hijack thread. I'll post something about flop and chops. Anyone have issues getting a good cut with pipe cutters when cutting on the bend. My cuts always seem to come out uneven. Do you just bevel the cut a little, so its not necessarily parallel with the bars, on a an angle? I don't wanna use a hacksaw next time, mainly because I don't have one, but I do have a pipe cutter |
The tape is Viva (from Jitensha). For cutting on the bend, a pipe cutter is how my steel bars were done. Wasn't easy, but wasn't hard either; just a little filing afterwards. The quality of your cutter makes a big difference.
And thanks for the comment; I feel all warm and justified for my plan to drag it from Toronto to Paris this christmas. While the frames available here are nice, I'm too attached to my one and only and I need my ducats for food in this bloody expensive city. Those bar plugs are sick!

Way more comfy (for me). All I do is traffic/ city riding though, with an occasional 30-40 miler.
Chopped mine with a power chop saw. Nice and straight..... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67...o/DSC_0011.jpg |
This is exactly what I want to do with my spare frame..

Sorry for raising and old thread but can you put time trial brakes on the ends like these?
http://www.performancebike.com/produ...78-NCL-TOP.jpg I'm taking a road bike that is 1 cm too big for me and trying to do something with it so I figured a single speed franken bike? I've done it on my ex girlfriends bike. You just need to have the levers before you flip n' chop the bars and line then up to the bars to see at what place you should cut them at. To be honest, It was a bit of a pain in the ass and since the 'horns' were short and the levers quite long it just looked odd. |
Damn! Why not just mount the brake lever on your stem and lose the bars altogether!? Then you can listen to that "I can ride my bike with no handlebars." song while you ride. :)

I wish i got my bike in black, the white gets way to dirty looking way too fast. Although I did cut my stock Hour drops I didnt make bullhorns, I cut right before the bends for suicide flats.
