anyone coming down soon? we want to set up a race.

Dumpstergrub@gm 03-05-08 12:19 AM

I'll be in Bloomington the weekend of St. Patrick's (14-16th). I live north but am moving there in Aug. Wanting to do some riding but the kids I'm going to see don't have bikes. So I'll be riding alone and don't know the area very well. If anyone wants to ride let me know.

Bloomington thread, bringing it back.

I took a spill on my bike and cracked the frame so I am bike-less until Bianchi sends me another :)

Yes, I was there last week. I saw a 16T 1/8" dura-ace cog and some cheapo stamped cogs. They might have more in stock that I didn't see though.

The guys at that shop are a s s h o l e s and I hope some of them read this forum. The guys at revolution are much more friendly and promote a much better atmosphere. Revolution Bike & Bean FTW :)

Seriously? They always treat me really good at Bikesmiths and sometimes sell me stuff out of the QBP catalog at their cost... but I spend a ton of cash in their shop. Their prices are lower than Revolution's, and I think their selection is better.

I might be living in Indy soon. What is the road racing like between there and Bloomington? (Not racing BETWEEN the cities, but within the two.)

idk. I just think the guys at Revolution are a lot nicer, though I'm sure you're right about the selection. I guess I went a little far saying that they were a-holes, but I just haven't had a good experience with them. I ordered a cog and lock ring from them and they said they didn't have the time to throw it on for me:fight:

snortCRANK 03-05-08 09:27 PM

btw, my friends and I ride on Thursdays if you are interested. We're pretty friendly, so whoever is interested just PM me or something

I've actually had really good experiences with Bikesmith and their prices are pretty good as per the post above. Revolution seems a little too focused on image instead of wrench, though that's obviously just an opinion. They're nice guys and all, but I'd rather go with a cramped shop and better prices than a fancy place with a coffee bar.

Then again, Bikesmith is practically spitting distance from my house, so maybe I just see what's convenient for me ...

if you live in bloomington go check out the bikes kyle and charlie built up at revolution. the bikes are fun. or you will hate them. either way it's worth a trip up the street.

Eric Hanus 03-05-08 11:48 PM

the bikes they made out of old little 5 frames are sick. head up to revolution and check them out, seriously.

i went to bikesmiths last year, it was my shop, but thats only because i didnt branch out and go anywhere else. i ordered a bag from them, they never called me to come get it. 2 weeks after it was supposed to be in i walked in the shop and saw it hanging for sale in the window. they do have a good selection of stuff, but they never talked to me about what i was buying or even just casual chit chat.

a b seize 03-06-08 03:58 PM

similar experience...i ordered a lock through them, two weeks passed and i hadn't heard anything (they said a week at most) so i went in and asked. turns out the lock wasn't in stock, but they didn't feel like letting me know, and i had already paid for it so they were just sitting on my money. probably just some miscommunication between the staff but still, kind of pissed me off. i did buy a tire from them a little over a month ago though because they are cheaper than bicycle garage. looks like i have complaints against everyone but revolution...let's see if i can get them to **** up.

Just rent the movie "Breaking Away". You're in Indiana aren't you? That's what I'd do.
