why does this even merit a response?
|
I agree toe clips are for suckers who prefer to ride short distances with trendy sneakers so they don't look like geeky cyclist with clipless shoes at a bar.
Just commit damn it and get a set of clipless pedals and don't give up so easily. if your just posing then who cares but if you really want become efficient and connected to your ride then learn to ride clipless it makes a difference, and when you get good you can still trackstand and skid. |
they exist for a reason
and most people that ride fixed use them for a reason think about it |

maybe the title of this thread should be changed to "I'm a Sucka"! * smirks, then turns around to bro's for a round of high fives*

Am I the only one who considers this an attempt at trolling?

i'm not the most coordinated guy... and when i recently went to clips after riding platforms forever, i'm feeling that clips are just plain unsafe. i find myself trying to flip into the pedal instead of paying attention to traffic. i fell over twice yesterday because i couldn't get my foot down fast enough. i took those p.o.s.'s off and i feel sooo much more in control.

Coming from a guy that loves clipless to death. |

are powerstraps easier to get into than clips/straps, or harder?
|
I find them easier but less effective than clips and
clips less effective than clipless. I don't like powerstraps that much. |
do we have two of the same thread going on at once?
just use clipless. I got a pair yesterday and I'm already in love though to say that clips and straps is a total hipster thing is stupid. they're seriously quite useful when just running to the store |

i don't care man. it's whatever. ride what you want to. |
I ran clips and straps for a while because my cranks were french and my clipless pedals wouldn't fit. I'm back to clipless on all my "real" bikes now, and I either have to change shoes or ride my tall bike or swing bike. I've started riding the bike I built for my wife because of the platforms. :o
|
from this point forward, all bikes equipped with clips must be posted in the jackass thread, because it's difficult for this guy to use his feet

Pedals, in general are for suckas, I just ride/rock bare spindles, in flip-flops, year round, on my converted Cervello with arrospok, risers, arrobar. It's all about style.

Dang, you know, pedals make me feel unsafe, I think I'll switch to some rope loops I can slide my foot into instead...kind of like stirrups on a horse...
I was originally a lot more comfortable in platforms as well....before I knew what I was doing. |

I was originally a lot more comfortable in platforms as well....before I knew what I was doing. Really, its a preference issue. I like clips because, well, they are cheap, and I live in a small town where grocery runs etc. are the things I use my bike for...general transportation. |
it took me a while get coordinated with clips as well. just practice and you'll eventually get the hang of it
|
I recently switched from clips to clipless (SPDs) and I have to say I'm sick of falling down and screwing up my knees whenever I have to stop unexpectedly. I'm sticking those pedals on my MTB and putting the clips and straps back on the fixie.
They're fantastic for recreational, non-traffic riding though. They totally change the way you ride for the better. They just not that good for a heavy-traffic commuter bike. |
**** toe clips, pedals, and cranks. Get one of these:
