How much do you keep on your rack or in your panniers or messenger bag or whatever? How much does the bag and the gear you always have with you weigh? (for example, bag plus tools that are always in there) What for tools do you always have on you?

My bag ends up weighing around 30 lbs. with a sweater, tools, locks and all the other little randoms like pot and iPod. That's why I leave my bag at home most of the time now.

Usually my bag holds a jacket or sweater, ipod, an adjustable crescent wrench, an allen set and a bottle of water/beverage as well as a cable lock and a U lock. Though soon I think the cable lock which is garbage will be replaced by one of those krypto cables with the loops on both end. I would guess its about...15 pounds. on top of that its usually carrying books/laptop/groceries in some combination.

edit: I forgot to mention a patch kit, but that doesnt weight much.

Depending on the books it can range up to 30 or so pounds. But the usual is about 15-20 pounds. Its also winter so I'm carrying more crap.
