Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? one--Njal's Saga ends with the lawyer being burnt alive in his house
(as you probably know).

Back on the issue--is there a velodrome in Iceland? Those guys
might have some old bikes kicking around, if there is.
That would be great, you just have to tell me how I can pay for the shipping. I promise you guys that you will see the conversion step by step, because I will need your good advice all the way trough this project. I contacted some sandblasting company to get rid of the old paint, and the guy I talked to on the phone sayd I should take powder coating as an option. What do you guys think about that. The sandblasting and powder coating will cost me 140 dollars.

ps. to be completely honest with you kaijo-velo, I have never even read Íslands sögu, none of them!
All these Sagas, hot springs, glaciers and waterfalls here in Iceland do not interest me at all. If you are born here this is just like every other thing.

Jepp, I think it is great to be a tourist here in Iceland. But people are so crazy over here. I have been training with a bicycle group here in reykjavík an we are about 8 guys average on every practice. I use my scott sportster for commuting here in this small city, and it takes me about 30 minutes to ride trough the whole town. It is sick to think about it because pollution is the main topic these days here in iceland and people are always trying to come up with new solutions, but never consider to ride bike for 15 minutes to school or work. Icelands population is about 300.000 and the traffic office sent out an report last year and in it stood that there are around 200.000 cars in iceland. My family has 4 cars, one for each person. hehe....

Are you sure there are no track racers there in iceland?

Here in finland its almost hopeless for a buget fixie. But I found a guy who rides on the track, and he sold me a wheel set off his fuji track.

You can also ask where they get their parts from and such, the guy I talked to works at a lbs so I think he shipped the bike with the shops shipment, but other wise people spend some money getting hubs and spokes from germany.

They charge actual postage, so it's quite affordable. The crank I ordered from them was four or five pounds shipping, with no customs, duty, or VAT of course.

That would be me... I have been ill now for three days and have not had anything else to do but surf the net and of course take apart the bike. The thing is that I like the Alien products, have you tried them out??

Damn, homegirl did it again. About ten years ago she basically punched out this chick trying to take her picture when she was with her kid.
