And as a point of clarity, no one will ever rip Burnside harder than Cardiel, period.

atchley looks really good on his board, and I even like his fruity little back-foot donkey-kick things he does before he pushes (no joke)
cardiel is just gnarly as hell and I LOVE that! I think everyone I know wishes they could skate like him.

I lived there for a year and pulled more in that place with Red and Sage present than I can brag about anywhere else and I can tell you that the 2 hour sesh I was a part of in 98' with Cards, Navs, Drohobl, and Loda Crooks and a few more present was dominated by John and no one else. When he drops everyone stops to watch. I'm bummed that has been taken from him. I ripped my local rat trap today in his honor after watching the last installment this morning. Get better big man. You'll never fade in our eyes.

Bikes: 2007 IRO Mark V fixed, 1971 Schwinn Spitfire stock newsie cruiser, 60's Schwinn Collegiate single speed, 1984 Azuki Imperial fixed, old unknown brand Tandem fixed.
Atchley rides more like a hip-hop version of Trujillo to me. Effortless. Cards does not make things look effortless... that's the beauty of him.. brutal slams and all. I do dig Atchley's loose style.
The last time I rode Burnside was in 2003 and it was my first time there. Made the mistake of going at 5pm or so and it was PACKED with all the locals (including Q in the crow's nest talking TONS of ish to anyone and everyone and throwing empty cans at kooks). Took me like 20 minutes to get the nerve to drop in on you dudes. Slammed super hard several times, but ended up having one of the most memorable days of my 25+ years of skating. Great times. and oh yeah, I was easily the worst skater there that day (including the female locals). Burnside is no joke and takes time to figure out. I consider it in my top 3 skate spots of all time.
