Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Today on my ride home

On my ride home today from class I was on a sort of back-ish road that runs near the back of campus and I was cruising along, doing the speedlimit or close to (its 20 or 25). Anyways, some dudes in they ford ranger pulled up behind me and gave me a ration of honking, hoping i would, you know, jump the 2 foot tall pile of snow on the side of the road to the icy snow covered sidewalk. After approximately 30 seconds, they drive up onto the middle divider to pass, so they are super close to me and driving one set of wheels on the middle divider. Needless to say I took advantage of a free lift and grabbed the back of the truck bed and got a ride for a couple blocks. Now, about halfway to the stop sign they start accelerating trying to get me to let go, I imagine. I politely released, skip-stopped up to the stop sign and rolled through, as I watched them get pulled over by a nice police officer. It made me smile. Granted I might get my ass kicked if they see me again, but I dont much care.

Yeah, right. Riding while there's snow on the ground.

Bikes: 2008 Specialized Allez Elite, 2007 Trek 7.3 FX, 2005 generic Schwinn Mountain Bike.

Then, as they were being pulled over by the police, a Rube Goldberg-style series of unfortunate events ended in a cement truck unloading all over their vehicle.

Also, there happened to be a guy practicing on his slide-whistle while this happened.

Srsly.

I don't care if it's true. This is mythology for our forthcoming civilisation.

I'll name a piazza after you when I am uber-Lord.

I like this ending better:

After accelerating to get him to let go they skid sideways into a manure truck and they all get manure all inside the car while the driver yells "MANURE!!! I ....HATE...MANURE!!!"

cool story tho
