This section is nuts because the average age of the fixed gear rider is probably lower than that of the average tourer/tandem rider/etc. It has nothing to do with the type of bikes we ride, its just that young men get in fights.

Igneous Faction 02-01-08 05:36 PM

Hence why we're collectively smarter than the BMX forums, yet WAY dumber than C and V and framebuilding.

frankstoneline 02-01-08 05:43 PM

I really like it here. Its blatantly obvious who knows or cares little about riding fixed gear bikes beyond the coolness aspect. Makes it real easy to disregard what most people here say and find the helpful bits.

mander 02-01-08 06:29 PM

There are lots of cool (and hardcore) people in the long distance forum.

wroomwroomoops 02-01-08 06:41 PM

I used to post in the tandem subforum. Then I realized it's almost as deserted as the winter cycling subforum. Friendly? Sure. But boring.

I like it here. There's a good deal of ******bags, but also a great deal of cool folks that I would feel happy to hand around in real life as well. And I like the whole dynamic of SSFG.

Oh No 02-01-08 06:45 PM

i love everyone on ssfg.

ryanlovesyou 02-01-08 07:04 PM

The MTB forum is so boring... I try to go there but the only discussion is by one person who repeatedly posts pictures of his bike. They never seem to actually talk about riding or even components.

barba 02-01-08 07:09 PM

I just press the "view new posts" button and reply to whatever seems interesting. Bikes are good, I am less concerned with the type.

I have been spending too much time in the cross bikes pictures thread, though. Man I want a cross bike.

I'm going to keep posting here until I finally hook up with a tattooed art school girl.

Me too, I'm gonna buy a Phantom Cross pro this summer hopefully, let's go get our asses kicked in Gloucester next fall.

This is the internet. If someone is being nice to you they are probably trying to **** you. All the personal attacks and lack of niceties on SSFG makes me feel safe.

MIN 02-01-08 08:49 PM

hahahaha, great stuff

^^new sig ftw

A&S and Road Cycling are good for laughs, I like Commuters because they seem to see the bike solely as a tool, Touring because they are hardcore, and SSFG for the shiny, pretty builds.

Whatever happened to frameforum.net? Really liked that bboard.

the funny thing is that most of us would probably get along in person. the computer is a common medium on which to alter your personality to an exagerated degree, thus causing bravado to take away from the better part of each of us. we've all been called a hipster. but are we? do we do more on our bike than just go to the grocery store, or coffee shop? most of us i would think have girlfriends, so it's not for the poon-tang. i mean really. wouldn't you rather be hurt in a crash trying to protect what you devote your life to, the reason you've spent all that money, rather than the bike getting f-d up? maybe somebody should just start a beef thread, where you can say whatever you want. a thread where nothing gets deleted by a mod, and have a disclaimer saying it's not safe for work, or at your own risk. maybe it would help the other threads become more relevant and helpful. or you can all go to hell. either way.

I agree, other than the me getting f'ed up to protect my bike. Bikes are replaceable and I'm not. Same goes for the rest of you.
