I became a mechanic because of his website. Perhaps I will name my next bike after him, as my two bikes thus far are named after friends who have passed.

so many of us are so grateful for his life and his influences, it's strange thinking of his death as a loss. i prefer to think of his life as a gift.
every time i emailed him, he responded with one useful piece of information, and something hilarious. he seemed to take a lot of joy in life. he's got joke pages on his website, and pictures of him riding a tandem alone. he built crazy bikes out of what seemed like curiosity - or because he hadn't seen it done before.
he got so many people riding bikes. and that's great.
