Holy ****. This sucks. RIP Sheldon. You were a great guy and there's a ton of people out here that benefited from your knowledge. I'll definitely donate to a Sheldon charity if the opportunity comes up, so post up a link if one shows up.

RIP Sheldon. You were a cycling luminary, and will be missed.

Rest in peace Sheldon Brown. Your enthusiasm for cycling was ridiculously contagious. I know I'm not alone when I say that your incredibly resourceful site and words of wisdom played (and continue to play) a major role in my own interest in and enthusiasm for all things bike. Thank you.

Does anyone know any details about the wake / funeral. I wouldn't go to the funeral as I feel that is personal time for the family. But I live close enough that I would go pay my respects at the wake...

Without Sheldon I wouldn't be riding 14 hours a week. Without Sheldon I wouldn't know what a fixed-gear bike was. Without Sheldon I wouldn't know how to build a wheel. Without Sheldon I wouldn't see the lighter side of a tough sport. Without Sheldon the white keyboard of my Macbook would still be white instead of dark with grease stains. Without Sheldon we lose a great man, but hopefully we will all be encouraged to act like Sheldon sometimes. To answer inane questions from different people with a friendly response over the course of years and years. To continue to experiment, create and have fun instead of simply spend money on the latest and greatest.

Yes, freewheel threading is quite well standardized. There used to be an oddball French size, but that went extinct sometime in the '80s.
Your hub will work fine with any freewheel, though I would consider it a bit of a downgrade to go from a Shimano to a Regina. You'll likely suffer a deterioration in shifting quality.

Super Tuesday Nears...
I've finally made up my mind, I'll be voting for Obama in the primary on Tuesday. When you live in Massachusetts, the primary is the only presidential vote that matters--if a Democrat can't carry Massachusetts in the final, there's no hope!
I'm still a big fan of Clinton, and would still be on the fence, except that my daughter is very strongly for Obama and has been working for him, which is enough to tip the balance for me. Actually, my ideal scenario would be a Clinton/Obama ticket, with Obama running in 2016 as VP. However, it's very unclear that such a ticket is possible, so Obama/whoever is my next choice.
