Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You're in a room with 8 bikes, you can pick the one you like the most and that will be your only bike for the rest of your life. You'll never ride any other bike again. Wich one do you pick?

I love my pista right now, but if we're talking whole life when I'm older I'll appreciate a more lax geometry with the ability to run fenders.

Is it the end of the world? Is this my "getting around and avoiding zombies" bike?

Bikes: EAI Bare Knuckle, 1980's Ross Signature 292s 12 speed

May I ask why the given choices? I mean if I were picking "bikes for the end of the world" I would've picked some ish with a little more class. ie. pista concept, bareknuckle, a keirin frame, Fuji track pro, etc.

Random cheap bikes. There would have been to many to name for a poll if I would have included fancy bikes.

I picked the steamroller because it's the only frame strong enough to handle the extra weight of the frame mounted 750watt phased plasma particle beam rifle and dilithium crystal power coupling.

oh, and I have one.

I hate zombies.

If **** hits the fan, I am taking my motorcycle for main transportation until fuel supplies run out. In which case I will probably go for a cross bike or a rigid mountain bike. Which ever provides the best riding position when carrying a shotgun over my shoulder.

the hilarious thing is that this scenario is totally true of many of the people who buy the bikes listed

Before I do my fateful choice: what happens if I don't chose any? Can I continue using my current bikes?

Then the Steamroller is the only logical choice. I like wider tyres, I like a cushy ride. I can put 32x622 tyres on it, which is barely acceptable.

Still, I won't be able to do xc any more, which is a damn shame.

Looks like it's the steamroller by a nice margin. I like that frame a lot and wish there were more along those lines, with very aggressive road geometry + provisions for commuter nerds. bicycle marketroids are you listening??

would the rest of the bike be the same spec? or would it be a stock bike?

and which one can i mount a .50 CAL on? (like i figure fighting zombies, i might need something bigger then a shotgun)
