So Stoked

So I've been waiting for my Pista Concept since thanksgiving. I go to the shop today to see if they could get an eta. They've left messages and haven't heard back. So he asked if I was interested in the Felt tk2, I was but on the site they only had the new frameset and it was 900. I'm not willing to pay that and that's what I said. He said he would offer it to me at cost. So I said I was interested. He called right then, they didn't have any framesets in the 07, but had a complete in my size. So he gets off the phone and asks if I'm interested, and I ask how much. He's going to give it to me at cost, which $630, plus $40 for shipping. I of course said yes and am super stoked. Good luck for those of you looking for Concepts, it'll probably be a while.

It was a closeout price since it's last years model. I'm not going to complain though.

typically with whole bikes -- and frequently framesets -- the profit margins aren't that high. wholesale is seldom half retail in such cases.

The concept isn't listed on the Bianchiusa.com site, isn't the D2 replacing it for 2008?

I just had my LBS call to see if they could order one. Bianchi said that they are back ordered, but if you order now you could get it in May.

I hear conflicting stories from EVERYONE. some LBS say they discontinued it for 08 (including mine) and others say they are shipping out in march? Some say they are just offering the frame set and others say they are just offering the complete bike. Personally I believe Bianchi isn't offering it... But I only have one LBS to go by as of now... so who knows.

I wish there would be a definite answer... as it's hard enough to find one.

idk, but honestly, i spoke with my guys two days ago. Since I have no money they said I could make a down payment and they would order it for me, then put it on lay away. idk if it's the 08 or 07, but I hear they're supposed to be the same any way.

yeah. i went to my lbs today and while in there i asked about the situation with the concepts. he said something went wrong with production, he's not sure what, but something. also sky(the chick design lady) is, i guess, no longer with bianchi and that was one of her bikes so they aren't really focusing on getting them out.

they're a bianchi dealer and sell a lot of their bikes so i trust what he says is pretty much true.

he told me, if they get one in, it's mine, but he doesn't even know either. but he did offer me a pretty good deal on the s-works langster frame. not my first choice, but those are pretty much amazing frames too.

yeah, complete bike for 670 shipped. I already bought components to build up the concept I was gonna get, so I'll have some parts to sell. I just can't wait to have a bike again. I sold my other bike in November to fund this one, I won't let myself have more than one bike. It's been killing me.

wholesale can be half of retail, and there can still be a tiny profit margin. It's just math.

I work for a bianchi dealer... Our rep told me the first concepts (only framesets will be sold, no completes) will ship in March. The first batch is very small though so if your shop hasnt preordered any, you are SOL. As the summer goes on they will be continuing to produce them, and I expect around July you wont be able to swing a dead cat without hitting a concept.
