was that the kink lexan guard?
|
I'm sure you guys have heard of:
taking a road double crank/chainring, and using a router to shave off the big outer rings teeth, leaving you with the small inner chainring, and now the outer ring is a bash/pants guard. ghetto unless you make a clean cut, as I have seen some that looked like they tried it with a sawzall. |
Seems like a waste, how often do you ruin chainrings? I rode BMX and mtn bikes for a long time and never fouled a chain ring, seems like it would be mighty improbable on a fixed gear. Save the cash and if you do happen to damage a chainring, you can buy 2 more and still have beer money left over afterwards instead of buying that thing and still having to occasionally replace a work out chainring.

overpriced and silly.

It pains me when bikes become status symbols..... |
From the look of this thead, Ben's Cycle was WAY off the mark when they designed and produced this ridiculous POS part.
I wonder how many theyve sold. Zero? |
ya jebus, a 144bcd bash guard? I picture a bash guard being good on a bike with a freewheel. On a fixed gear I think you've got bigger problems like a crank arm coming around and whacking the curb.

this kinda **** is why i sold my track bike and picked up a crossbike! **** yeah!

why? everything else is a status symbol. The clothes you wear, where you eat food, the car you drive (if you do), where you get your education, where you live...

Maybe I'm just clueless, but I don't understand why anyone would make a track-crank specific bashgard. The whole things seems so obviously moronic to me that I'm half tempted to personally never buy anything from Ben's again. What the hell are they thinking?

If you build it they will come
Obviously Shoeless Joe Jackson was a book way ahead of its time and was referring to the hipster crowd of 2008. |

Bash guards are used on mountain bikes in rocky, or wooded areas so your chainring doesn't get "bashed" on rocks, or at log crossings. If you're in those areas on a bike with 700c tires... you're either stupid, or John Tomac.

I'll wait for the jewel-encrusted one to come out.
