Milwaukee "Crusher" Street Guard

What are your thoughts on this bashgaurd crap for $120? I mean every good tarck bike needs a bashgaurd right?
Are Eddie Roman and Vic Murphy involved with this **** or something? Is the Sprocket Pocket its 90s prototype? Hell yes it is. Has Ben's ever heard of that? Doubtful.
If so, i bet or they would have built it right...like they did in 1990. Or would they have? I mean at least you could slide on those. Oh but if it werent CNCed Tough ass 2024 T6 Aluminum!! HELL YEAH! MOTHER ****ER!! they couldnt sell it for so much. There's no money in plastic damn it.
(If you know what a Sprocket Pocket is without google you get a prize)

My thoughts...its completely stupid.
Discuss, tell me yours brothers. :)

epschoenly 02-24-08 10:33 AM

Sprocket pockets man, my brother had one of those in a stash of old bmx junk, made by havok I think, just a plastic bash guard thing, I remember him telling me about the advertisements, something along the lines of saving money for tattoos, because tattoos are for rad people.

Problem solved:

For all your fixed gear downhill mountain biking needs...

bonechilling 02-24-08 10:41 AM

This is the probably the biggest sign of fixed gear shark-jumping I can think of, until faux track bikes start showing up at Target.

schooner 02-24-08 10:46 AM

I use one, beats a thrown chain anyday. However, that price is absolutely ridiculous. I made mine out of an old Rock Ring. Use pliers to pop the teeth off and then just just file everything smooth. Maybe should have drilled some holes in it and made DOLLARZ!!!

You can kind of see it here.

i'm going to just put an 80s, downtube mounted bmx bashguard on my track bike. i'm going to have some much raditude.

deathhare 02-24-08 11:57 AM

It was junk. I ruined it in about 3 hours. I didnt know what i was doing.
Next bike i had was a red bashgaurd Bully.
Its cool to see em on that site.

mailer 02-24-08 12:12 PM

i started riding bmx at the tail end of the bashguard trend but i always wanted one since i saw a gt tour at my lbs with a bolt on one. it was the best looking bike i had ever seen.

e13's Supercharger is probably the closest thing I've seen yet. Too bad it only goes up to 104 BCD.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would want to run a ring that big with a bashguard. If you're banging your chainring on that many things, you should go to a smaller ring for more clearance.

crushkilldstroy 02-24-08 08:19 PM

DUMBEST

PRODUCT

EVER

I'd rather spend my $120 on a swift kick to the ass. At least the embarrassment wouldn't last as long.

sfcrossrider 02-24-08 08:25 PM

^^^ Yup. Unless you're racing/riding SS, or FG cross it's useless (and screams poser ******bag). ^^^ ;)

Bash guards are used on mountain bikes in rocky, or wooded areas so your chainring doesn't get "bashed" on rocks, or at log crossings. If you're in those areas on a bike with 700c tires... you're either stupid, or John Tomac.

Even then, it's stupidly ridiculously ********ly overpriced for what it is. Not to mention the fact that most people running SS/FG cross aren't going to be using 130bcd cranks.

kidtwisty 02-24-08 08:35 PM

hey, now i can wear my jnco's while riding!
**** yeah!

I think you mean running 144 BCD. Most cross riders are using 130, I'd imagine. And 130 BCD bashguards cost like $12.
