I eat bread with lots of fibers and other stuff. Never white bread. Here in Finland rye bread is very popular, and it's one of the staple foods that I have wholeheartedly accepted/adapted to.

But I don't eat my weight in bread per week - I really hope that was an exaggeration on the OP's part. Otherwise, if it was in fact an accurate statement of his bread consumption - look out for diabetes!

I just bought some of this last week in Seattle, and it makes the best sandwiches I've ever had. A little pricey but I will not be buying any other type any time soon.

My mom told me about this. It's very yummy, easy to make, and cheap.
I think I'll go and mix up a loaf right now.

mander 02-26-08 05:19 PM

I cheap out on a lot of groceries but never on bread. Life is just too short to eat ****ty bread.

shasta 02-26-08 05:23 PM

My cycling is powered by fresh bread from the farmers market and peanut butter.

asherlighn 02-26-08 05:40 PM

Oatnut & Flax seed bread w/ garlic lovers hummus. Its pretty damned good.

I enjoy pretty much any good bread, though. I like mixing some olive oil, garlic, feta cheese, and crushed up olives and using that as a dip for crusty breads.

Thisisit 02-26-08 05:52 PM

I eat about a loaf a week, my grocery store has a bakery and they make a nice loaf of Ancient Grains. I also eat a few whole wheat rolls.

I'd say beans and rice are my main fuel though. I should probably start soaking some more black beans soon...

pinkrobe 02-26-08 06:05 PM

Big mofo baguette and any of the following:
Stilton
old, frighteningly sharp cheddar
bleu
camembert
margarine
smooth PB

Other than that, I don't eat that much bread. I eat toast, and lots of it. Toast is what boring old bread becomes after it's done cooking.

caloso 02-26-08 06:12 PM

Oh, and don't forget bolillos. When I was a kid we went down to Mexico to visit some relatives and I must have eaten hundred loaves with marmelada de naranja.

Good memories.

ornmnt 02-26-08 06:12 PM

I second that Ezekiel bread vote. I moved to London a couple years back and have been going through serious withdrawals.

save_alkaline 02-26-08 06:25 PM

i picked up an italian loaf and some gouda on the way home because of this thread. i already had the beer in the fridge. mmm..

666pack 02-26-08 06:29 PM

i eat two bagels a day, one in the morning and one at dinner time.
and when i'm at work i get my fill of amoroso's rolls (best sandwich roll ever!). and i eat toast when i'm hungry. i'm so cheap. i cook one meal a day with my roommate, usually pasta with some quickly cooked sauce made out of canned tomatos and garlic. i really wish i could eat better bread.

my favorite is to put vegenaise and sriracha on the bread, cranberry sauce on one side, tofurkey and lettuce on the other and nom nom nom.. if i have mashed potatoes i throw some on there too.. best sandwich ever..

i absolutely love sourdough too.. making it tho, now thats another story.. the smell of the fermenting sourdough starter will either make you never eat it again, or really appreciate it more ;).. i just made some sourdough the other day with "fermented" (read: rotten) pineapple juice and fresh dill and that **** is SO good..srsly

Me too + grapes and a tomato. The doggies are circling me like sharks.

Don't have any circling gifs. Here's spinning :edit: and a shark

So, if you're one of the many who also eats his/her weight weekly in bread... tell us about it.

I like sourdough myself.

hehe,...I go through one of those round sourdough colombo/toscano/acme/semifreddi's deals a week
(when ya live out here in the SF bay area, what else?)

I am an admitted toasted sourdough and mayonaise freak (been putting mayo on toast since I was a kid :D )

mediccody 02-26-08 07:09 PM

sourdough, foccaccia, olive bread, poppy seed bread, whole wheat bread

i've never really thought of making grilled sandwiches with anything besides cheese but i think i will have to do this. y'all are making me hungry. got some porkchops in the oven.

thurstonboise 02-26-08 07:28 PM

I'm not picky. Just can't be white bread.
It serves as a carrier for PB and whatever suits my mood.
Top 3 PB & sandwiches
Bananas
Jelly - has to be raspberry or blackberry with the seeds.
Sriracha <- Poor man's thai food right there.

pittmatj 02-26-08 07:41 PM

My neighbor bakes bread and delivers it on his bike. Ten dollars gets you a loaf every Sunday for one month.
He makes a delicious cinnamon swirl and his carrot bread is mouth watering. I could keep going but it would make your stomach growl.

/I also like bagels

cosmo starr 02-26-08 07:46 PM

i eat a ton of corn torts

i have celiac

NitroPye 02-26-08 07:48 PM

Will your neighbor deliver to Rhode Island? I'll pay more. Hows $20 sound?

DDYTDY 02-26-08 08:00 PM

Gimme naan.

NitroPye 02-26-08 08:08 PM

That naan looks good.

I just got back from the store with: Nice nice olive oil, baguette, camenbert soft cheese, cherry tomatoes, garlic, beer.

Why would I ever need anything more? I have everything I need in this freaking messenger bag.

hockeyteeth 02-26-08 09:09 PM

I eat a lot of spaghetti, PB&J on wheat bread, and toast in the morning with my eggs. I basically live off carbs and a bit of protein.

I've been trying with little success to make my own bread recently. I can't make it fluffy enough.

Lenkeit 02-26-08 09:18 PM

Thank god for no low carb people in here! Bread and pasta are amazing.

TimArchy 02-26-08 09:32 PM

They don't really do bread over here in Asia. It was actually something that I talked about with the Head of School when I did my phone interview for the job. He assured me that there were a few small bakeries in town.

I won't say that this was the only reason I agreed to take the job, but...
