beer is liquid bread, right?

but yeah, i ate about 8 slices of toast for breakfast today. toast with earth balance and nutritional yeast makes any bread palatable. the best is a lebanese thing called mena'ish (sp?)...soft dough baked with a mixture of olive oil and thyme, parsley, and other herbs on top. sooooo good.

everyone here is lucky. i have a medical condition that does not allow me to eat gluten, which is basically equivalent to "bread." :( i do eat my weight in fruit though.

so much for the screen name of "doughboy"...

joshuastar 02-27-08 08:30 PM

is that celiac?

i love bread. especially toasted. i'm not such a fan of cold bread. and adding peanut butter to any bread is divine. except maybe cornbread. that's better with regular butter. come to think of it, i hate cornbread with sugar in it.

non-sweet cornbread fresh from the cast iron with butter for the win!

Sidequestion: Has anyone tried hemp seed milk? I usually drink rice milk but they had a box at the store and I tried it. Thicker then rice milk, but tastes too much like hippies being roasted over an open fire. Maybe it was the fact I used it with granola. It also doesn't take too kindly to sugar and chai tea.

I like homemade sourdough. I've been using the same starter for months and the breads get better and better. Helps to be a baking teacher too.

Maybe Sourdough olive bread tomorrow.

Why are baguettes in the US so horrible compared to them in France? Is the air better for making bread over there or something? They taste so different its not even the same thing over here! If I had access to real french baguettes I would have one of those for every meal with butter for breakfast, cheese for lunch, and rotisserie chicken for dinner.

Mostly because french bread is cooked, but over here they don't cook them completely.

P.S. Naan is also incredibly scrumptious.

The bread you want is included in the picture I posted. Bon apetit!

Yeah, it's celiac sprue. Cruddy thing is that I have been eating bread/wheat everyday up til 31 years old and then it hit me. Imagine giving up bread products after eating it for so many years.

We have so many great bakeries around here. It's

These guys Make a baguette topped with poppy and fennel seeds 7 days a week that is one of my favorite things to have with dinner. I'll usually consume half a loaf with soup or pasta, or a whole loaf with some cheese and avocado.

Another local bakery makes these incredible sourdough rolls with calamata olives in them. I had them the other night dipped in olive oil with fresh garlic. There were like whole calamata olives in there! I came a little in my pants.

I think hemp milk is the best kind out there, but I love earthy tasting stuff. I also love Westsoy Unsweetened Vanilla soy milk. I am surrounded by groceries all day, therefore I am a food geek.
