Are there SPD shoes that...
...look like something you'd wear when not on you bike?
Seems like everything I have tried look like I should be hiking in the mountains or, thanks to my size 12 feet, crammed into a VW bug with a dozen or so other clowns. I am used to wearing skate shoes so the style of most SPD shoes has me disappointed so far. |
i use(d) the shimano fn01's,
they're pretty nice minus the big reflective stripe side. super comfy though. i'm pretty sure Lake released their new spin shoe, which looks pretty normal. shoes are the downside of clipless. you could always buy bmx clipless shoes. they look like clunky skate shoes. |
nah mang. just rock them shytz
|
sidi dominators look bad ass, so i'm not sweating it.

Choose your own adventure:
Shimano SH-MP66L - Future Sailor Specialized Sonoma - Soy Latte 661 Launch SPD - Orthopedic |
the 661s are the closest I've seen.

On the cheap side, the Sette Rival II shoes from PricePoint don't look too bad when you're off the bike. Just like a pair of nondescript black sneakers. Also, they're really cheap. On the downside, I would not use them for rides of more than 15 miles or so. They are not as comfortable as Shimano/Sidi models.
I usually use the Shimano SPD sandals through the warm months - to my mind, they're the most comfortable option. I bought the Sette Rival shoes for my winter commute and they have worked really well. BTW. Sette is the Pricepoint store brand. |

My shimano mt-20d look pretty normal.

agreed, the Sette Rivals are super cheap and probably quite inferior in quality to all of the aforementioned brands. the soles aren't the stiffest, but they actually are very very comfortable for riding and walking. plus they look less like laser shoes than even the 661s
|
lake "lifestyle" shoes?
|
I've been using the Adidas Minrett. Found mine at the LBS, although Nashbar has then for $60. Black, lace up, with recessed cleat area, so you can wear them in the store/restaurant/whatever and not look like a total goof. They make a couple of other "mountain" (code for recessed cleat) shoes that might work too.
|
SIDI's look the ****. I must agree and "dominator" is a ditch'n name
Getting a pair as soon as i pay off the credit card/ |
can you replace the tread on doms?
|
Check out 661 (sixsixone) if you like the skate style shoes. They have a few options, some of which are not bad looking at all?

I've preached this gospel before.

I thought I saw some KEEN sandals about to be out with some cleats. Those would look hustler if you don't mind riding in sandals... although, the KEENS are more like a sneaker.
|
spd shoes that are supposed to look like normal shoes just make you look like you shop at kohls. shiny shoes with velcro that make noise when you walk let everyone know you're a kool kid.
|
Be sure to wear those sandals with socks, as to maintain your ******bag cred.

Get some. I know you're down with the Razorblade Suitcase. |
I'm wearing a pair of 661's right now. I had a pair of Sette's and they squeaked so much when I walked I burned them in a fiery fire.
That said, I did prefer the look of the Sette's. |
