Question for Chrome bag owners

Hello,

I am seriously considering buying a chrome citizen, as my current bag sucks. It is a motorcycle courier bag, so even at it's tightest the strap is too long, resulting in a really painful shoulder.

I was wondering/hoping that the chrome bags would allow me to tighten it up more .. allowing the bag to sit up high on my back. Is this so?

Also - when the strap is really tight, is it easy to swing the bag around and get things out?

Thanks

Yes, they tighten up pretty well, but you should probably try one out if you're really concerned whether it's tight enough for you. You can get the bag in front of you when it's tight, but it's certainly not easy to get things out when a bag (any bag) is that high up unless your arms happen to be mounted on your ears.

The chrome bags have the pull tab thing to loosen the strap, I generally loosen the bag a bit when I sling it around and then re tighten it when i put it back on the back. I love my metropolis, it seems near bottomless, yesterday I got a blender, a pot, and a bunch of food in it to make dinner and it still fit comfortably, and likewise when I carry a few books or my computer and a notebook it fits like its the perfect size for the job. I would say you will be able to get it plenty tight and they are quite well designed bags.

Well, it has a seatbelt buckle, so one press and the bag comes right off you. Love mine, I can carry electronic components (routers, motherboards, gfx cards) all over the not worry about the weather.

My Metropolis seems to be shrinking...... but that might be because I carry my Timbuk2 XL to school and save the Chrome for everywhere else. I just got too sick of asshats going for the seatbelt buckle between classes.

Like, seriously. The Metropolis was a freakin cave when I first got it (upgrade from the now-defunct Auclair Cocotte-clone). Now I seem to run out of space in it really, really fast. Maybe getting that XL is really messing with my standards.

Did you add a tick mark to the buckle? If not, you should every time you return fire sucessfully.

I'm just glad that no one has figured out yet that the Timbuk2's cam buckle effectively functions as a seatbelt button, minus the catastrophic deceleration trauma of stuff-on-ground.

although my metro is a really well made bag, If you are looking to have the weight up high, chrome may not be the way to go. because they sit at such an angle, all the weight tends to go to the bottom. Just my 2cents; I cannot get that bag to sit comfortably on me. I'm either wearing it too tight, too loose, at the wrong angle, something. I, too, try to get the weight up high. my backbone rules, though. It's a little long, but I can carry ridiculous weight in it (I carried 50+ pounds the other day). It is hot, though. although that won't help you either, I guess.

The chrome bags have a D-ring to release/elongate the strap for on the fly bag openings. I enjoy mine.

Wear the stabilizer strap. When someone hits the release button, they'll be confused as to how the bag is staying on your shoulder. Then, you can take advantage of their confusion to whip them in the face and/or groin with the male buckle.

Someone actually hit my button the other day and the FEMALE end whipped up on its own into their face. It was pretty funny.
