$150 italian straps...
https://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...oducts_id=2289
i get what they are, and that someone might choose these as a finishing touch on something like a vintage italian restoration they plan to keep on wood, but i'm curious-- do you know of anyone who bought these and rides them in the street?
i can almost see someone blowing their tax return to run 2x of these on a mashed out concept...

ben's cycles is just rediculous.
those ugly as schit handpainted nitto ui-5gx stems... that's what started it for me, my hatred of ben's.
i used to order stuff from them, but i don't plan on supporting them in the future. i think enough extremely rich hipsters are pouring money into their pockets that they don't need my funds.

Pfffft, if I was buying toestraps made from the hide of gen-u-ine eye talians I would pay the premium. You should see how much a suit made out of that isht goes for

Anyhow, they do look pretty nice to me. Despite the price.

ill admit that i have bought a few things from bens (toshis, saddle, stem... not the hand painted nitto) and they do have great customer service. there was a mixup on their site saying that something was in stock when it actually wasnt and in return they sent me a $20 gift certificate, so that was pretty cool on their part. most of the rediculously expensive parts on their site are parts that are generally not carried anywhere else as they do have a price matching option. i have no complaints about bens

Perhaps selling these items is just a marketing ploy. I'm sure it generates hits to the website and generally raises the store's profile in the cycling community. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't sell any of these high ticket items and probably don't even keep them in stock. Go to Ben's to look at the $700 Brooks today, buy your $100 cranks there tomorrow.

i've been a satisfied ben's customer for a little while now. they're offering so-called 'boutique' parts as well as their old standard track parts at reasonable prices, with good service and pretty fast shipping. no complaints here.

ben's defense: that place rocks,.....ok they have some "creative" prices, but you can always get the same stuff elsewhere for less,...but their customer service is very very good. I have bought from them many times, and will again.
expensive strap comment: for that kinda money you'd think you get more of the cow

They actually gave me a phone call when an item I ordered was out of stock. That's enough to keep me going back for certain items. Certainly not $150 straps though.
I do wonder, however, if any of you that are complaining about these have Toshi Doubles on your bike?

I don't think its ben's cycle's pricing, really. I bet those things cost like 60 dollars wholesale from some weird italian company that pays their workers 40 dollars an hour to make leather bicycle straps. Maybe?
Anyways, if you don't drive a car, and store away the money that you would have spent every year, you could be rolling in these straps and pista concepts.
