Although i think the MASH thing is over-hyped...Id like to see the CL poster ride.
Where's his superior video?

I think the idea is that freestyle fixed is stupid, not that he is better at it.

i don't think he's saying they don't ride well, just questioning the popularity of the video, and subsequent hype.

Dude! Corporate sponsorship for alleycats. Mountain Dew jerseys, No Fear shants, and a haybale lined street course!!! I can't wait!

I decided not to when some kind offered me $275 for it. Thats the price for a brand new Aerospoke. I figured hey if the demand is driving people to pay that much then i aint going to sell it just yet. Plus i love my Aerospoke.

So wait, someone offered to pay full price for a used wheel, and that offended you?

Cardboard or styrofoam pedestrians that you can bust through!

metaljim 03-05-08 03:29 PM

it's only entertainment. besides, if MASH or fixed gear freestyle shesh trixxx gets more people to start riding bikes and having fun, then i'm not gonna complain about it.

I grew up in the hardcore/sxe scene in SF/Oakland/Santa Cruz in the mid-90s and can tell you that out of the 100 or so edge kids I used to bro down with, there's maybe five that I know of who are still edge. With two exceptions that I can recall, it was always the "straight edge champions" who peaced out the quickest after it wasn't "cool" to be edge anymore.

Whatever though, there's no reason to hate on anyone, time is the true test... let pretentious jerks be pretentious jerks and concentrate on your own life; the universe has a strange way of balancing itself out.

NoFX!

I really don't get the obsession with all the Trickhatin' on this board. Why do you even care...and to all the BMX comments, acrobatic cycling came way before BMX and is done on a fixed gear with flipped dropbars.I wonder where that equipment came from.Btw i don't do tricks but it takes a lot of practice to get good at it and that means a lot of time on a bike. How is that bad?

sounds to me like you used to "bro down" with a bunch of weak assed fakers.

ianjk 03-05-08 03:59 PM

I am not gung-ho about the MASH type stuff... Blatant jackhole riding is going to piss off cagers and probably result in a lot of kids trying to imitate and end up hurt/dead.

If you don't think people should be freestyle riding and playing around on track bikes.... take a second and ask if you should be riding your track bike on the street ;)

People are just riding and having fun, absolutely nothing wrong with that (IMO). Remember, BMX bikes weren't originally for tricks, or were, dirtbikes, ATVs, shoes (parkour), etc.

It is called progression and it is going to happen no matter what.

Well yeah, being sober is lame. Can you imagine the participants.

Instead of *****ing about growth, just wait another 5 years for the implosion and reap the rewards on CL.

sp00ki 03-05-08 04:03 PM

uh, this isn't about riding, it's about celebrity/fanbois.

You could fly out to SF and ask them yourself (be sure to add the dip***** part ;) .)

It might just be me, but its about more than getting from point A to B as fast as possible. If I wanted that, I would probably get a car. Nah, for me, its about enjoying the trip from A to B... most of the time A and B don't matter, its that "to" part that I'm in it for. If you get your joy out of zig-zagging, or shooting through town as fast as you can, awesome. Enjoy the ride! It seems like the guys in MASH are...
