Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Although i think the MASH thing is over-hyped...Id like to see the CL poster ride.
Where's his superior video?
I think the idea is that freestyle fixed is stupid, not that he is better at it.

i don't think he's saying they don't ride well, just questioning the popularity of the video, and subsequent hype.

So wait, someone offered to pay full price for a used wheel, and that offended you?

it's only entertainment. besides, if MASH or fixed gear freestyle shesh trixxx gets more people to start riding bikes and having fun, then i'm not gonna complain about it.

I really don't get the obsession with all the Trickhatin' on this board. Why do you even care...and to all the BMX comments, acrobatic cycling came way before BMX and is done on a fixed gear with flipped dropbars.I wonder where that equipment came from.Btw i don't do tricks but it takes a lot of practice to get good at it and that means a lot of time on a bike. How is that bad?

I am not gung-ho about the MASH type stuff... Blatant jackhole riding is going to piss off cagers and probably result in a lot of kids trying to imitate and end up hurt/dead.

If you don't think people should be freestyle riding and playing around on track bikes.... take a second and ask if you should be riding your track bike on the street

People are just riding and having fun, absolutely nothing wrong with that (IMO). Remember, BMX bikes weren't originally for tricks, or were, dirtbikes, ATVs, shoes (parkour), etc.

It is called progression and it is going to happen no matter what.

Well yeah, being sober is lame. Can you imagine the participants.

Instead of *****ing about growth, just wait another 5 years for the implosion and reap the rewards on CL.

It might just be me, but its about more than getting from point A to B as fast as possible. If I wanted that, I would probably get a car. Nah, for me, its about enjoying the trip from A to B... most of the time A and B don't matter, its that "to" part that I'm in it for. If you get your joy out of zig-zagging, or shooting through town as fast as you can, awesome. Enjoy the ride! It seems like the guys in MASH are...
