I guess I should start by apologizing for not taking any before pics. So I'll just say that when I got a hold of it it looked like a bike that had once been loved but had then spent the next twenty years inside a chicken coop.
It had superficial surface rust, the paint and decals were shot and it smelled funny. I stripped it and spent a few hours sanding it down and then I dropped off at a friend's house. He in turn took it to his work and primed and sprayed it for me.

Here's the headset. bearings, bottom bracket and fork after being prepped for being reinstalled. These parts took a little effort to clean since the grease originally put in there had long since turned to tar. I'm glad I quit smoking.

That paint looks good. It is going to be a fine ride.

AW CRAP! I was supposed to get the stuff that I ordered to complete the build today. I called and they said they were behind due to the fires. Now I have to wait until friday. I was hoping to get the rig together to get at least one good ride in before the cold sets in.

Additionally, the funny smell is now gone.
