Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fixed in Africa?

As for spare parts - if you take a good, reliable bike with you, you shouldn't need all that many spare parts.

( I was in the Peace Corps in Honduras years ago and had a blast!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!)
I need spare parts from just riding around in my city, I'm sure I'd need them riding a cyclocross rig on unpaved roads/not on roads.

I think I'll stick with singlespeed because they're a lot easier to maintain and if I have to push it up a mountain, I'm ok with taht (I wouldnt have very high gearing on the bike anyway, I do a lot of spinning)

how much time do you have between finding out where you're going and actually going? make your decision then. if you are close to the capital, your decision is way different.

Just finished watching it. Haven't seen anything like it, had a great time following the story(ies) and the humor was well suited. Now I know what you can use a glass coke bottle for.
