I've had some crazy close calls...people runing me to the curb...cars turning right/Left infront of me but thank God I have never actually been hit.

I can say yes to both of the first two at different times, but manage to avoid being run over so far. No multiple answer option?

hmmmm, i dont know how to answer that. Ive been in a wrech involving another bike rider, but we were both drunk. and i flew past a car which slammed on its brakes in front of me, taking its mirror off with my handlebars, but didnt wreck. I then proceeded to accelerate until i couldnt because i thought it was a cop, (later informed that it wasnt) and hit a pedal on a blind curb, wrecked, and lay in the street motionless because i felt sick......

I've been in many crashes. Thankfully, none of them involved cars and very few involved being on the road.

I answered "No, i have never been hit by a car."

Bikes: Masi Speciale Fixed, Surly 1x1, 2 70's Bianchi folders, Swingbike, Columbia Cruiser 3 spd, Specialized Big Hit and P.2, Cove G-Spot, Xtracycled Bianchi San Jose.

On the scooter forum I used to frequent there was a saying that there's two types of riders, those that have gone down, and those that will. I think in the long run it's pretty applicable here too.

Bikes: Surly Cross-Check, '85 Giant road bike (unrecogizable fixed-gear conversion

Does a failed trackstand while clipped in count as a crash? I've had 4 of those.

What about the time I was testing new homemade fenders, purposely seeking out wet tarmac, and the bike went out from under me and my face went into the pavement?

Or is it only vehicular interactions that count?

Bikes: so many

I got hit by a truck going <5mph. He was stopped and didn't see me (despite me being directly in front of his truck) and drove right into me. It hurt really bad and I had to ride the last mile home using just one leg, but I was fine the next day.

I got bumped by a car last week in a left hook (that's the UK version of a right hook). I hit their door and knocked off their mirror but stayed on my bike and rolled out of it. That's even better than walking away.

been bumped once, ran off the road plenty of times. Hit and run once. They all sucked but luckily I walked away from all of them. That bike still kinda works...

Do you really have to be hit by a car? What about a 50 mile an hour crash downhill? No probs with cars so far, but did break two ribs and a collarbone. Always nice to hear a french doctor (even higher educated people in France don't speak english) say with a big smile (because i'm tenth or so person that week that crashed his bike in the alps): "Monsieur, votre clavicule et deux de vos côtes ce'st cassé. Je voudrais operé." If you haven't broken a collarbone once, you're not a real biker.

oh sorry for the unclear poll answers. the whole thing is supposed to be strictly car crashes not falling and such.

I was hit by a car once, and I hit a car once (it was the drivers fault though). I was relatively okay both times, although I did go to the hospital when I was hit (and then left without getting treated since I ended up in one of the worst hospitals in NYC).

When I was hit both of my wheels got tacoed. When I hit a car (she pulled out of a parking space, drove around me, then pulled into another parking space 10 feet from the one she was in and cut me off - I ended up hitting her rear wheel as she finished parking and was left hanging from my pedals upside down between two cars) my front wheel got a little bent.

However the worst two accidents I have been in did not involve cars at all. The first one happened while I was training in the park. I don't remember any of it but I was told that a kid ran into the street and I hit him. I ended up with a concussion, chipped tooth and a broken nose. The second crash was during a road race - there was a pile up and I was part of it. My seat stay got bent and I ended up having to walk a mile to the finish carrying my bike, then walk another mile after getting off the train to get my bike home. The next two days I could barely walk and I was popping Ibuprofen for a week.

I've been love-tapped by cars quite a few times and forced off others but my worst crash was being hit by a honda pilot and losing 8 teeth, breaking my jaw in 2 places and having it wired shut for months as well as having a broken shoulder. I spent 8 days in the hospital but probably only remember 5 hours of that total. I don't remember the accident at all. I also had a trachiotomy and have a lovely little red neck scar that moves as a result. The bike (an early 70's Italian-made, chrome-lugged Coppi was also obliterated, but the drivetrain and back wheel survived and I still use them on my commuter to this day (5 months later). Thank goodness wearing a helmet, If I hadn'e been, I'd be dead.

Yes I have been hit by a car, yes I walked away, but my right kneecap was dislocated and got a lot of nerve damage in my right leg. As a result I no longer have feeling from about 8 inches above my kneecap into my mid shin, mostly on the inner side.

My bike was mostly fine because the car merged into me on a road, but when I fell the top tube dented in around my right knee.

I've been hit several times, but so far I've been lucky enough not to have been seriously injured by a car. (Knock on wood..)

doored twice (including a dramatic crash at 25mph) but walked away both times, and then got cut-off and body-slammed a Jeep Cherokee one night...

the girl who got me my first messenger job had a separated collarbone from being hit by a Boston Gas truck... ouch!

Bikes: Swobo Sanchez

I was trying to skitch on a pickup on Friday, and the driver decided to accelerate the second I grabbed on, which caused me to get pulled off my bike at around 25mph. My handlebar wrap got gouged up, hips/knees were cut and bruised, backpack has a gnarly gash in it, but I rode away afterwards.
Don't try skitching. I'm lucky I didn't get run over.
