1) lots of people
2) that totally depends on what you pick.

anyway, and don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you don't know much about bikes. a bareknuckle is probably way too expensive/nice of a frame for your needs...

I do. The components can cost anywhere from $0.00 to well, a lot. How much you choose to spend depends on your budget, what you will be using it for and what kinds of deals you can fine. I think I spent about 600 on parts for mine.

I was dead set on getting a bareknuckle until a new in box s-works fell in my lap for less, though I find myself longing for what might have been.

beethaniel 04-01-08 12:08 AM

Geez, a $2k Bareknuckle?! I can't imagine how you could even do that (gold plated everything?), much less why you would spend that much on a basic Cro-Mo frame like the Bareknuckle.

sp00ki 04-01-08 07:42 AM

I was going to say "it's easy with a nice wheelset" but those look like formula hubs...

ed: wait, did he mean ditto for riding on the track?

That's not The Scientist's bike. And yeah, you're right, if he went with something like Zipps or Mavic IOs, I could see the cost getting up there, but I somehow doubt that's the case.

that's a damn nice bareknuckle. best i've seen. nice wheels, tubs are the bees knees. and rolls are damn comfy.

buzzybelmondo 04-01-08 10:00 AM

look like record hubs to me

Its actually pretty easy to get it up near $3000 if you pick the right parts.

TheScientist 04-01-08 10:25 AM

What can I say? I splurged a bit on some phil hubs, and phil bb. Stuff like that, and yeah some of my stuff is anodized but that didn't cost me much more than regular parts. I also bought several cogs and an extra chain ring. Plus I'm building my own wheelset so that costs a little more. Paying a buck for every spoke on two 32h rims isn't the cheapest. That 2k is factoring in the 600 bucks for the frame though. I like steel..
