Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Motobecane Messenger Question

Yeah I know there are too many dumb threads about this, but I have one quick question. My girlfriend just ordered one so I'm getting some stuff to upgrade/change (better tires, she wants flat bars, etc). What size freewheel does it come with, because it only says free bonus freewheel. She's tiny so I want to make sure to order one if needed so that she has a gear she can reasonably push.

I just got mine yesterday and put it together. So far it's been a ton of fun. Feels so natural. I took my roadie out for a long ride today and it felt odd.

You'll probably need SRAM Red brake calipers... that or Nashbar.

16T. Just don't cross thread it when installing it, and please grease the hub threads first.

Thanks for the answer... I know how to work on bikes. I just didn't know what size freewheel came with it as packaged. I don't think she can push 48/16 so I'm going to get her like a 19 or something.
