Troubleshooting frame spacing
Hi all,
I have an 80's era Panasonic City Bike, which I have grown quite attached to. Presently, it is still set up with a 5-speed freewheel. The drivetrain is pretty much destroyed after commuting on it over the winter in Chicago. It has horizontal dropouts, so this seems a prime time to try my hand at a SS or fixie conversion.
So, some compatibility issues... Initially I was planning on buying an old rear wheel with freehub and spacing it/adding a bmx cog. I'm realizing this may be harder than I thought with spacing issues, though. I believe this is a 120mm spacing, and most used 26" wheels I can find are 130mm.
I've heard of "cold setting", but I was wondering if I had any other options. I'm not opposed to doing a fixie instead if that could work. Any thoughts? Thanks much

You could also get a flip flop hub, which come with 120 spacing and lace it to a 26" rim. You could even get a 26" road rim like an aerohead.
