Nashbar.

What do you guys think of Nashbar?

My buddy and I have bought a lot of stuff from them in the past and been quite happy.

I just got a new TT bar and love it. After riding on it for a couple days, I ordered some TT levers. Get the box in the mail. Invoice for TT levers.... dig in the box to find a nice new set of long-reach calipers.

Anyone else have similar experiences, they are usually pretty quick and I've never had a problem before. I usually go to the LBS, but they only carry a couple tools, tubes and new bikes.

I never shop at Nashbar unless there's free shipping, which they don't seem to do anymore. Otherwise, for small things, it's not really a better deal that you'll find on eBay, or even at lots of LBS.

They used to be good, but in the last 18 months or so they have gotten really bad with things like raising their prices before a 'sale', double billing, and poor selection. They used to be one of the first places I looked for parts, now they are the last.

I use them when I can, but their inventory is kind of inconsistent and spotty (they seem like a clearinghouse/surplus seller sometimes), so they often don't have the item I'm looking for. They're worth checking out to see if they have something good on sale, though, which is quite often. Like I just picked up some Sugoi RS Flex bibs for about half the LBS price.

Yeah, sometimes they have good sales. I wait for those and keep an eye on the coupon threads. Otherwise they aren't that good. A lot of their sales actually seem fairly deceptive---I wonder how often they charge the stated full price for some of their stuff. Buyer beware.

I haven't been using them much since they sent me the wrong size tires. Invoice for 2x 25mm tires. In box; 1x 23mm and 1x 28mm. At least they got the brand and model right, but please... one tire on either side of what I ordered?

The 3 times i used nashbar they had free shipping offers.. however when I looked at my CC statement they charged the shipping to my bill.. Yes i used coupon codes (they were noted on the invoice). I emailed them on each occasion and they refunded the shipping cost. They have always got my items correct though..

If something is on sale, or they offer free shipping and have everything i need i will use them, but i always find the sale items are out of stock or they have like XS and XXXXL when I just want a Medium..lol

I usually order from Jensen, Bens Cycle, (both have been great) or eBay. I just ordered from ebikestop.com this week, they seem to have a good selection and fair prices. I will see how it goes with them..

I've bought from nashbar - great place to look around for a basic idea on prices, when there are sales I check it out - got a wicked deal on a camelback and a bunch of rack/pannier/touring bag type stuff.

I check various places when shopping online though, the places I know of are all known here: benscycle, harris, peterwhite, performancebike.com / nashbar.com, jensonusa, aebike and wallbike.com - I've not really used eBay for bike stuff other than a kickass deal I got from the one store for some SL eggbeaters and a mini-evo last year.

My interaction with the ones I've actually bought from (Nashbar, Performance and AEBike) has been great though, no problems from any of my orders from anyone.

I've used them quite often and they're not bad. I use their TT bars and their threadless stem, both of which seem pretty solid and good looking. I believe I also got a shimano 105 front brake for 10 bucks once.

I just ordered their tt bars as well, but in general I'd say support your LBS.

I also dealt with double billing. it went like this...

ordered and billed for parts abcdef
got an email stating ef were out of stock.
billed for abcd
called nashbar about it ( we have no idea, contact our accounting dept tomorrow)
called nashbar about it ( accounting: we have no idea)
got parts in mail
abcdef charge was refunded.

That's tolerable if you are using a credit card, but if you use a debit card as I do it actually freezes up real money in your account and runs the risk of bouncing if you don't have enough to cover both amounts.
