warranty the arrospoke and then sell it, buy a proper frame and then sell the brassknuckle and build up said frame. Bareknuckle, Pista concept or a nice NJS frame would be my pics. Though in all fairness, trying to pick between a pista and something like a concept or a bareknuckle is a bit unfair, as they arent in even close to the same quality wise.

I'll post the picture of my face up later.
I was riding in a race and a girl was on my left and we were both taking a left turn. I tried passing her on her on the outside and she turned right for some reason at the last minute. We collided and both went into a curb. She broke her fork and my pista's downtube bent in, the aerospoke cracked on boths sides of one of the "spokes", and my fork bent inwards.
I'm looking for a strong steel frame and I did love my pista. I was just curious if anyone had any experience with the bare knuckle. Seems like a classy frame.
In any case, a brake wouldn't have saved me in that situation.
Oh, and I love you guys. So ****ing funny.

I ask, because when I get cut off, I squeeze my brake and slow my bike down before I crash into someone or something.

Meh. Both of the times I was hit have been due to drivers not seeing me. One of them was at night when I had 3 (!) lights going on and heading through a 3 way as a car was stopped at a stop sign. The other time I was riding perfectly lawfully on the bike lane when a guy pulled a left going the opposite direction, I swerved right when I realized he didn't see me and he ended up only clipping my tire as opposed to hitting me head on. If that isn't reflex I don't know what is, there was zero damage to my paint and not a speck of damage on his car, but my rear wheel was taco'd because he was going about 20, 25mph. If I hit a brake there would have been a very likely chance that I would have gotten hit head on and gone over the windshield. Brakes don't always save you, and if they did, people with brakes would rarely ever get hit when that's really not the case at all. It's about your riding style more than anything else, reflexes and instincts and knowing how to read drivers and gauge traffic. Experience boils into it too. And 1 out of 100,000 times everything is out of your control and you get hit by some d-bag on a cell phone who's trying to eat a sandwich while driving.

People always post stuff like this. "I got in a crash where I was cut off and couldn't stop in time, and I totaled my bike, wheels, and face! But a brake wouldn't have done anything." Really? Or are you just too ashamed to admit that trying to look like a hipster messenger doofus cost you your bike and your dignity?

There are a lot of accidents that could be avioded by having a brake Not all, but a lot.
Sounds like this accident probably wouldn't have been avoided if he'd had a brake. Though it could have been avoided if he'd backed off and not tried to pass someone (who it sounds like he doesn't know well enough to know her riding style or what her plan was for the race) in a corner.
When I race I stay the hell away from anyone I don't know well. I hope other people do that for me too. You never know when someone is going to do something sketchy or when you might be forced into making a totally justified evasive maneuver (it's only "sketchy" when it's someone else thats doing it).
As for the bike, whats wrong with a Brass Knuckle? Be happy you're not on some janky conversion from the local Co-op. Sounds like you've got some cash. Get Bare Knuckle. If you don't like it, strip it and resell it for $10 less than you paid and get a 2004 Pista off craigslist for $500. Or why not check out a Soma or something? You know what a Pista feels like and there are always going to be a crapload of used ones for sale. Sounds like you're itchin' to try something different.

let me guess: upper middle class and living at home with parents. goes snowboarding in the winter. would never think of buying from a thrift store, but doesn't think twice about Starbucks. shops at skateshop for clothes/shoes, but can't skate. drives a bad ass japanese or euro compact car with flowmaster and flat black rims. has never not had a summer vacation.
i could be wrong, but prolly not far off.

I'm 24. Lived on my own since 18. Work very hard for the money I have and enjoy spending it on this hobby that makes me so healthy and happy. I drive a TDI Jetta because it saves me money.
I think there are wrecks that could definitely be prevented by having brakes for sure. I don't ride in the rain without one! But I don't use one and I feel like I have better control of my bike because I don't rely on having it there. Is it safer? Probably not. Am I trying to justify not having one post-wreck, definitely not. Both the girl and I made errors in judgment and I paid the price majorly. I had no time to react or I would have bailed a different way and my frame would probably still be usable.
In any case, I love fixed gear cycling and our diverse and interesting choices in style, equipment, and opinion. So, please, make fun of me as much as you want or give me some advice on a frame. Either way, I'm amused.
I'm pondering bare knuckle, pista concept, or cinelli vigorelli at this point. The brass knuckle has been riding pretty nice since I adjusted the fit after a few rides but the geometry leaves something to be desired on the aggressive side.

Pazzmore: Let me guess, lives with ten other smelly dudes in an old house, work at the local vegan co-op, listens to too much punk rock, wears skinny jeans, and drinks way too much?
Haha. I hope I'm wrong.

Does this guy's social situation have ANYTHING to do with suggesting a bike to him? no. Seems like a humble enough guy to me.

HAW! love it.
i DO listen to too much punk rock and DO eat a vegan diet and DO shop locally and DO live in an old house, but have worked for 10 years now teaching kids art at an inner city school, do NOT wear skinny jeans, haven't had a drink since 1987 and only live with my girlfriend... and i'm broke.
i talked ish to dude cuz of his seemingly blasé blasé comment about going to the shop and building up an brass knuckle "for the time being" while he thinks about a bare knuckle and some phils and white aeroheads and whatever else top of the line products he'll buy. seems to be throwing around money and bragging about it casually.
i think homeboy should ride that brass knuckle into the ground and be stoked.
check this dude's story out (scroll down to start at Part One):

I was referring to your usual condescending tone and lack of input in most situations. I could however just be cranky because I'm sober, just worked a twelve hour shift, and am out of weed. Either way I was just trying to give you a hard time. Can we hug it out?
