I typically enjoy and love all my rides to work on whatever bike I'm riding, but I enjoy the ride home more.

the difference is when you look at my bicycles, garbage doesn't actually cross your mind.
it does, on the other hand, cross mine when i see your garage full of hasty builds or pics of your crappy craigslist ads/ebay auctions.

actually, i shoulda thought about it a little more. it probably rides like a nice road bike with that fork or the steel fork. the steel just a bit stiffer. i was thinking it should have a steep head angle but the off the peg BJ's don't.
i like steep angles and short rake so imo g-funk wins if he's got an older lugged pista.

This thread could inspire a show in which people switch bikes for a month. At the end of the month, each person gets to try to design a better bike for the other.

now i'm curious: what don't you like about carbon? i can tell you from first hand experience, my fork feels amazing [on this bike]. cancels out most of the buzz a steel fork will let go right to your hands, is just as rock solid when handling on descents... it nicely compliments the way the frame and wheels behave.

well, i don't really have anything against carbon except the fatigue concern and the looks.
also, i have a bike that has a steel fork and it is real soft, works great unless you don't ride real smooth.
the problem with the aftermarket fork i kinda already explained. i prefer short rake forks. i doubt that fork is short rake. it's probably not much more than the BJ fork though. and i already said that the head tube angle is probably fine for the carbon fork. i do think the steel fork looks better though. so really i'm giving you a little bit of a hard time. your choice to put that fork on there is your choice, not one i would make but you know, i'm not very serious in these forums...so really i'm just ****ing with you. you bike is ok. especially if you like it that way.

it has the exact same rake as the orig. bob jackson one (actually, .5 mm more).
anything less would give too much trail (which starts to feel sluggish). keeping the rake the same keeps a nice responsive ride. i had an option to get one with less rake, but i didn't want to make the steering sluggish, as a lot of my riding is done in traffic.

*ed: but yeah, riding styles are different. i guess that's why we all seem to enjoy building vs buying completes-- you end up with a bike that does exactly what you like.
