Crankset

I am building up an old steel frame and need to make some choices on the cranks so that I can sort out the bottom bracket.

I have Campy track hubs (not flip-flop) that I am going to keep. I also have a Campy Daytona (Centaur) double crank that I could use. My concern is that there appear to be relatively few ring choices for the Centaur and it is ramped and pinned.

So, should I:
1. Keep the Centaur, find some flat chainrings in the size I want, and commit to Campy with the BB
2. Store the Centaur, buy Sugino RD48 and have a huge selection of chainrings - crank is not that expensive.
3. Buy used Shimano 600

Thoughts?

First, make sure the Daytonas are square taper or that you can get a bb the right width to get your chainline right.

You can get chainrings easily - no need to buy ramped, pinned rings just get the bcd right.

this.

if it doesn't line up properly, i'd go looking for a used shimano 600 set.

Any guess what the right spindle length would be to get the Daytona/Centaur rings to match a campy track hub? I don't care whether the ring is mounted on the outside or inside position.

my GUESS would be 110.
basically, find out the spindle length now and subtract a few mm's to get close, as properly fitted road bottom brackets should set the chainline in the middle of the 2 rings, or at the center ring if it is a 3 ring setup. At least this is what I've heard before.

I had one awhile back but sold it due to few and pricey chainrings. I am pretty sure it is spec'd for a 111 bb spindle.

the only one I found was speccd for a 116 as a road crank, meaning if it was used with both rings and gears, so 111 sounds about right.

I think it is 135. As I recall I had some 144 rings lying around and they wouldn't fit.
