You ordered an Octalink BB for a Sugino 75?

bonechilling 04-15-08 12:04 PM

I ordered a falafel today.

spacehippo 04-15-08 12:06 PM

congrats?

(On both the parts and the falafel).

Ty Ty 04-15-08 12:06 PM

lolz I cancelled the BB. oops

crushkilldstroy 04-15-08 12:08 PM

I ordered my dachshund off of the couch this morning.

He looked up at me and went back to sleep.

You mean the Sugino 75 cranks and Shimano 7710 BB which you conveniently deleted from the OP? The Sugino 75s require a square taper BB, but the BB you ordered is an octalink (not even close to square).

Kind of roundish, and pointy.

You can make it work with a file though. It just takes a ton of time.

I'm aware that you probably aren't being serious, but the octalink spindle is hollow, so....surely not.

I suggest spending a few $ more and just getting the Sugino 75 BB.

File the crank silly.

This works fine, just use loctite. Make sure you use the blue though. Use the red and you're ****ed.

BRANDUNE 04-15-08 12:18 PM

Pleeeeeeeease just finish this stupid bike!

Oh, I see. How about just melting down the cranks and reforging them...sounds a lot less sketchy than all that filing. Or melt down all the individual BB components and form them into a Sugino 75 BB.

The sad thing is not that you ordered the wrong BB (an understandable error for the average novice), but that the person you ordered from either didn't catch the error or didn't bother you inform you of the incompatibility.

sp00ki 04-15-08 12:30 PM

be sure to post pics when you're done. lord knows we need run-of-the-mill build pics more than parts-by-mail-order update threads.

barba 04-15-08 12:30 PM

We saved him the shipping on returning the BB at least.

sp00ki 04-15-08 12:34 PM

he deserved it.
the only thing you saved him from was learning a valuable lesson about not carelessly ordering a bunch of loosely related bicycle components online when on payday.
there's something to be said for researching what you're new to...

Ty Ty 04-15-08 12:40 PM

Oh sorry for being new. Also sorry for posting in a fixed gear forum about fixed gear parts Sp00ki. You seem to go out of your way to post in my threads. I give you permission to ignore my posts...because you aren't helpful whatsoever.

Barba - I appreciate the point out. Oddly the BB was placed in the middle of Sugino75 BB's and it did not say Octalink. Sorry for offending everyones highly refined sensibilities with my mishap.

damn, i agree with everything you just said. are you feeling ok?

Ty Ty 04-15-08 12:47 PM

That is pretty typical that a guy from Philly and a guy from Austin are both dicks.
You would think a bike enthusiast would want to include newcomers no-matter what skill level. At least I'm building my own ride...

sp00ki 04-15-08 12:55 PM

everyone builds their own ride.
the difference is, most people do research before making purchases, and try to consider what they're doing before doing it.
(and most importantly don't post their shopping list-- which isn't very interesting at all-- in its own thread)

Seriously though, good luck with everything and feel free to ask for help.

Ty Ty 04-15-08 01:01 PM

Dude, it's cool you don't like me. I get it. No worries.

i really doubt they are dicks because they are from philly and austin. jump to conclusions when you order parts, look like a dummy. jump to conclusions about location having to do with personality, look like a dummy. what are you gonna do next? ride brakeless with no pedal retention or skillz on the fixiezzzzz....dummy.

at least nothing!

:roflmao:

you paired an octalink and square taper...the only thing worse than people clowning you, is you trying to defend yourself...don't respond to the riffraff, just ignore and learn from ownage

Ty Ty 04-15-08 02:06 PM

Are you for real? I make a thread excited about some components and it turns into a total ***** fest...

BRANDUNE 04-15-08 02:07 PM

yeah...basically
