uhhhh ... my original post doesnt say i want to buy one so no, i am not looking to buy one. i am looking for the name of the color. the color is not just "blue." there is a name for it and i was wondering if anyone knew the exact name of the color. in the 1993 catalog, the only color thats availabe is glacier blue metallic but that color is a silverish blue which is not the color i am looking for. the rep at cannodnale cant help me find the color code if its not in the catalog or if i dont have a color name. every serial number that i have found for the regular blue shows that it was a 1993 model but in the 1993 catlog, that color isn't available in there. |
i think they came in blue

only thing in the catlog is this blue, polished, red, green 1993 catalog which most of the "blue" ones were released but "blue" is not the name of the color http://i26.tinypic.com/2pqwbgp.jpg |
It's Glacier Blue Metallic. It says it right there. :)
Surprisingly, this is fun:D |
thanks for the help guys but if you dont know the answer, please dont reply. i know someone has to know the answer out there. the rep at cannondale said this to me when i gave her the serial number to the right color. but as you can see by the catalog, glacier blue metallic is not the right color.
"Thank you 1993 year model; Glacier Blue Metallic colorway. We no longer have touch-up paint available for this model. The Cronar paint code for Glacier Blue is W9205 That is the colorway featured for the 1993 Track model. The serial numbers are for a 1993 year frame. Sometimes, back in the day, Cannondale may have painted a frame a different color than what is shown in the catalogue." |
Ask for dupont cannondale blue at the store!
|
Find a bunch of Dupont paint chips that look like the blue you're looking for. Then hold them up to a 1992 Cannondale Track bike and see which ones get you the closest. Then go to a paint shop and have them give you a sample pot (or a quart, not sure how many colors Dupont has in sample-sized pots) of each. Take them home, paint them onto a primed surface of some sort let them dry and then compare the colors.

To the OP, are you doing a touch up job, or a full respray? If you're redoing the entire frame, I'd just find something close and roll with it, but I'm not much of a perfectionist. |

Not quite that easy. There's definitely some sort of metallic pearl going on in that color, and that is infinitely harder to match up.

It's a commodity aluminum frame from the 90s. Just take a can of spraypaint to it and call it a day.

Seriously, if the OP still has the bike, any paint supplier can match this. Better yet a body shop. Those guys match paint to faded, one of a kind colors all day.
|
but then he won't be able to put collector plates on it!
|
how much do these sell for these days?

How about this, if you have a silly question about the color of a bike, don't post it until you've exhausted all possible avenue of investigation. And if you don't like the answers you're given, tough. |

Im not gonna do the leg work 4 u, but u might get somewhere with this if u haven't already tried/seen these sites.
